I don't know. Woj usually tweets ambiguously unless it's a done deal but it seems pretty direct that Utah wanted RJ and that he was in the discussion which is why the ext was pushed back.
Yea, Knicks probably wanted to package him with Randle but Ainge laughed cause he don't want that bum Randle.

There was talk that either Mitchell would get dealt or NY would move onto re-upping RJ and wrapping up their offseason for now. Outside of the picks, it feels like they're haggling over pieces that aren't that important (basically any Knick player not named Grimes maybe)

Now, I think he'll eventually be a Knick, but realistically Utah's gonna keep him through at least the all-star game because it's in SLC.

Ainge didn't wanna pay RJ (granted he's paying THT now). Where Ainge looks bad now is that if he was hellbent on dealing Mitchell for max value then he shoulda held off on dealing the Frenchman first because that offer was never coming off the table.

Maybe they did and this was the Knicks being like "fukk you we still have the best deal you can get but now he's completely off the table regardless" which is true. Even without Barrett there is no team that can offer the combination of matching salaries, the draft capital or young players the Knicks can offer

Right this means they took Barrett off of the table.

I wonder what happens next:jbhmm:

Seems like they don't want to budge on Picks either.
