Disney’s not trying to “take” Spiderman they are trying to get a 50/50 split so to speak. And honestly with the work they put in and how successful Spiderman was under their care they deserve it.
Rich white men don’t get richer by lowering their asking price. Think about it, the MCU is the BIGGEST film franchise on the PLANET. They have all the bargaining chips. If the next Spiderman movie flops then that hurts Sony’a pockets. Meanwhile Dr Strange 2 will do something like 700 million worldwide and Thor 4 will knock on a Billie’s door. The MCU’s second tier heroes are huge tentpole franchises. The MCU will not “miss” Spiderman overall while Sony will DEFINITELY miss that connection.
