Xbox ain’t never had a chance to catch up. That’s the whole point.

Sony had sold almost 250 million consoles between ps1and2 before microsoft even sold 25.

I’m not sure why y’all believe that lead is somehow surmountable.

Microsoft has kept about the same amount of market share as they’ve always had in America since the 360.

They have not made progress elsewhere. No matter how good Starfield and Fable, and Perfect Dark are that won’t change.

Their only chance is to try to attract users from wherever they are instead of trying to force everyone to buy an xbox.

Short term sure. Over time it’s held about the same. Now that microsoft has shifted priorities it might go down a bit. I’m sure you don’t think they plan to sell MORE consoles by putting all their games on PC/Gamepass/Xcloud day one.

Like they would definitely sell a bit more consoles if they locked everything down on xbox like took minecraft, elder scrolls online, etc off playstation. Overpaid square for FF16, Stopped releasing games on PC and only offered gamepass on xbox, etc.

But it would be very costly and bad business and they still wouldn’t sell more consoles than playstation.

They are shooting for a new lane and it’s not gonna look how people are accustomed to gauging success in gaming.

The regulators obviously take their future strategy very seriously.

No, they caught up. They were ahead almost the whole generation and finished a negligible amount of sales behind at the very, very end. That would be "caught up." They went from 115M sales behind to what, less than a milly?

PS4 was a recovery for Sony because of Mattrick and Microsoft pushing the always-online, discs-tied-to-consoles, Kinect, Xbox-TV shyt that no one wanted. Sony immediately jumped on that shyt and admittedly killed it with their response:

Growing is a very relative term. Growing compared to what, by how much? They also claimed Japan was their fastest developing market…

They gave us a 25 million update in January of 2022! It’s May of 2023, what is the number, why have they turned the faucet off regarding gamepass subs?

And if we’re being honest I don’t even hear people talking about gamepass as much anymore. You couldn’t get away from gamepass conversations in 2021-22 now even the biggest shills are quiet on it. Whats really going on?
