All I have is a Citi double cash I use and pay off every month.

Im in the 830 fico range so I been thinking bout coppin one of them visa blacks just cause it's metal:wow:

Honestly, that's part of the reason why the Chase Sapphire preferred won me over. That metal...

I never had a card until 2014 when I got pissed cause we caught a flat going out of town and I was like damn I need a card so I can get rental cars. Applied for a mortgage this past month and got approved with a credit score of 730 :lupe: I only have one card..a Capital One Quicksilver but I always made payments on time and kept the charges relatively low. I'm tempted to get another but I don't want it to knock my score down for applying.

The hard pull will be only temporary. Companies like to see that you have open credit funny enough because it gives some evidence as to whether or not you handle credit well.

Also remember, there are different credit scores for everything. Ex: your credit score when buying a car could be higher or lower vs the one for the house.

I've paid off all of my credit card debt, and pretty much all of my debt outside of my student loans, and I pretty much live a life without credit. If I can't afford it then I can't afford it. I've had debt (that seemed insurmountable at the time) before and that shyt just adds too much unnecessary stress to my life. Listened to a lot of Dave Ramsey and realized I can live my life without the debt at all.

this is the wave I'm trying to ride. thankfully I'm not drowning in debt so it will happen sooner than later. fukk credit fukk debt cash only. if I ain't got it then I ain't got it.

I have 4 credit cards and only time I would use them if im in a major and I mean major hole... I have one with a balance which I will have paid off in December....

My girl sister has 7 with like 4 max out because she's trying to live like the rich folks in Beverly Hills but she barely work 40 hours

Any credit score aboce 750 is equal in terms of getting best pricing/benefits.

Congrats op on nice score!

As for me my household uses the Amex gold for everything and pay it at end of month. Looked into Plat but it actually has less benefits that I'd use (don't travel).

I got a couple other cards just to keep my available credit high.
Chase - 25000
Amex blue - 25000
Cap 1 - 7000
Discover - 8000.

Good practise is every 6 months hit up the cards 800 # and ask if they can do a line increase WITHOUT hitting your credit. If you are an established member they can do this and it will just bump ur available crefit up without getting a pull on ur report.

This is true. My card had a $3,800 limit when I started, and a few months later they increased my limit by $500 without me even asking, because I was paying my bill on time & more than the minimal payment.

Yikes. I wouldn't marry someone with that type of financial irresponsibility.
