I've been eating off this for years... never missed a payment b/c i acted like it was a check card. http://www.cardhub.com/d/citi-forward-card-for-college-students-251c/

citi took it away for new students I think b/c the benefits carried over even if you were out of school. some dumb shyt like 3 points for every dollar spent in "restaurants" (bars and clubs), grocers/convenience stores, and gas station. id end up with $500 in amazon rewards a year and I probably spent $500 a month.

just treat it like its your bank account or the money under your mattress and you'll be good. i also switch my payment date to the 15th so I never fukked up with february or 30 day months
Reward points cause you to overspend.

:mjpls: You know the man can deny you a job, or other shyt by checking your credit history now. They look into that more than anything else these days.

Mind explaining how?

Got credit once i entered college and got student loans (:comeon:) i had a 3,000 and 2,000 limit credit cards also. It wasnt overspending as much as I wasnt smart with payments and understanding interest and when it kicks in. Being able to get such balances at 18 &19 shouldn't be legal and it's even more illegal to have parents not teach kids about money :francis:

My loans kept getting deffered and eventually defaulted once I moved to the westcoast. I wasn't worried about paying off loans as much as paying for everyday living in the westcoast. All of my credit sins were from 06-09, nothing recently cause my credit was never good enough to get anything else.

Once I got a good paying job I started paying off debts little by little. Getting in payment plans and or settlements. Started w the small things on my credit report and paid off until i had nothing else :manny: I have no kids or no wife/gf to take care of so it was easier for me to do. I sacrificed 3 years of good pay to pay off debts/loans. Got a secured card 2 years ago w $300 limit, became unsecured a year later & Credit line auto increased to $600. never was above the 30% threshold and while still paying debts/car note applied for Amex and got $2500, only spending what I already had to spend or was getting ready to have. I'm fine with a credit line of $20,000 considering it was $300 two years ago.

My issues were from being a broke college kid and less not being good with money. I make sure my teenage niece and cousin don't make the same mistakes I did. If you're good with money and credit and don't teach your younger family the importance of credit you're a piece of shyt honestly. Feels good knowing I don't owe anyone anything

Especially the Govt:shakur::shakur:

I think that's like he had to put some money into the card first as collateral right? I don't trust those cards. Do they even help credit score much?
It helped me raise my credit a lot.

I'm really glad Discover is doing the 10% cash back thing with Apple Pay, because Best Buy is starting to accept Apple Pay in stores now.

I was planning on buying a new tv and PS4 through Amazon because of the 5% thing they have going on but it makes sense now to just cop them at Best Buy.

Come to the darkside.

Credit cards are one of the few things i disagree with dave ramsey on.
Just seeing this, but I have to agree with you. They are certainly more convenient than a debit card but it's still easy to overspend. I've been using my card, but I plan my purchases to the T lmao!

Renting a car with a debit card was a :camby: experience. I ordered a copy of my card the next day.

Cool man.. yeah just keep doin that for about 5 months then ask for regular unsecured card and move on up in the game:blessed:. Only worry about utilization when you have a regular credit card. Right now they're just trying to see how you pay and if you're on time. a test run basically. Also on the low Wells Fargo has a weak credit card lineup. In a few months try to get in with Chase(start with the Slate card), Amex (green card), BoA, etc.

Got an AMEX a couple months back, applied for a chase sapphire today and they approved me for $16,200 :dahell:

I just wanted 5k :ehh:

My credit repair story needs to be in a blog or something.

595 - 767 in 12 months...I was surely in the 520s before that.

damn breh that's a helluva comeback. i'm in the 780s. only two CCs one w/ Bank of America and one is the Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards Card. how is that Sapphire tho? i know it feels like a stick of gold in your hands. @pete clemenza you still think it's better than the Amex cards? if I have no relationship w/ Chase would I have to get the Freedom/Slate first before jumping to Sapphire?
