The majority of Black men prefer light skinned women over dark skinned women, based on their actions and dating choices.

If given the choice between a dark skinned Black woman and a curvy lighter-skinned Puerto Rican woman, most Black men would choose the latter.

I should amend my statement to say that it's something I had to challenge within myself. (i.e. I wasn't saying that "it's okay for Black men to prefer lighter-skinned women".)

I love women of all types. I'd 100% be a simp if I wasn't also a cheap b*stard with some dignity.

But I've often had to question why I'm sometimes more attracted to lighter-skinned, mixed-looking Black women (as well as Latina, South Asian, Arab, etc.) over dark-skinned women.

Part of it, I think, is because of that aspect of being socialized to accept features shared by Europeans as more attractive.

Confronting those biases uncovered a newfound appreciation for darker-skinned Black women with strong ethnic features.
I mean, you spoke your truth, and the truth of most brehs’ preference in the first comment.

And you came to some realizations that made you rethink why you and others have those preferences.

This is something that usually happens later in adulthood for men (which is natural; folks have had more time to live and have experiences that challenge those initial desires, etc).

For what it’s worth, I’m glad you took the time to reflect and become more aware of mainstream society’s programming, and how it can affect one’s preferences/desires. Truly. Most people of both sexes don’t think about these things.

What I will say, is, when young Black women talk about young Black men and their “preferences”…this is why.

Because as you come out of that fog with a new appreciation for Black women who don’t look “mixed”/less Black, those types of girls were always around. A lot of the young women who complain on college campuses about this topic are going to be the older women who say “yea when I was younger dudes weren’t really checking for Black girls like that”. 🤷🏾‍♀️ A lot of the Black girls with “stronger ethnic features” don’t get as much attention or play until later.

The gender war threads is played out and I used to be among the main participants but sometimes they lead to some funny or thought provoking shyt so I wouldn’t say ban it completely:ehh:

But those black American vs black non American threads definitely need to :camby:

I think a lot of people on both sides get their assumptions of the other from the internet. Majority of black non Americans I met in real life been cool people. :ehh:
Totally agree. All of our various ethnicities deserve respect but, in the end, racists don’t GAF where we are from. All this crap about Haitian immigrants is the perfect example. The crazy white ppl in Springfield are approaching all the Black ppl. Shyt is just a reason to be anti-Black out in the open.

I been saying this, and simp azz brehs that think they "thoro" or "real" legit let those racially ambiguous women walk all over them. Look at Tyrese.

100%. This is a different facet of the conversation, but I find it funny that a good number of redbones I lusted after in my teens and 20's aged like unpasteurized milk in July. :mjlol:
Meanwhile, I've ran into more than a few darkskinned girls who I never checked for and could barely recognized them. :dwillhuh:
