From Chuck D, KRS to..... this.

I will say, as idiotic as Glorilla is, and as much as I hate this embarassing pandering, I don't ignore the virulent racists like Kid Rock and Ted Nugent and all the has been actor bigots endorsing the GOP.

True but the difference is kid rock anf nugent aren't the ONLY representation. And they represent the most ignorant sector of the right....meanwhile, Glorilla is being used to represent ALL black ppl.
What's wild is she's not even that popular.

They probably told her 5 mins before CNN wants to ask her a question. Because her statement is just beyond silly.

I agree with brother Malcolm that celebrities representing the black community is an issue, but you do have more articulate ones like John Legend, Spike Lee, Steph Curry, Common, Don Cheadle, etc. But the more ignorant ones like Cardi and Glorilla stand out because of the embarrassing nature of their commentary and the attempt to signal boost them. So we notice that more than "normal" celebs like the aforementioned.

At the end of the day, I don't take any political cues from celebrities unless it's an exception like Belafonte, Chuck, etc. and even then I'll listen to insight they provide but draw my own conclusions based on my own education and observations.

It is insulting that they connect with people like glo and cardi b to be spokespersons to “urban” communities and literally overlook educated blacks and those actually doing political and civil work because they don’t have enough followers to be deemed influential. While I enjoy a glorilla song, there’s nothing in my life I’d be taking advice from her about other than rapping, why the fukk do they think this is who I’ll be taking political cues from?

Why is it insulting?

Why do some of y'all pretend like the culture doesn't run and have STRANGLEHOLD on the community? :mjtf:

We've literally got EDUCATED and AFFLUENT Black people of ALL AGES trying to show they're apart of "tha culture"

Y'all do EVERYTHING to play it down.

THAT is the real problem. THIS is just a SYMPTOM.

Name them

they should be easy to find on YouTube. Post them cause I'm tired of seeing political opinions from Lebron James and GloRilla.

On CNN for the world to see, shyt is embarrassing

I see his point but it's one I've always disagreed with him with. White supremacy uses any and everybody to advance its goals

Jesse ventura, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ted nugent, Ronald reagan, and Donald Trump are just a couple of white entertainers that have been able to be successful politically. They're after his death, but there were still white entertainers of his day that did the same. They've always had the chance to swap from one world to another and be taken seriously.

Rappers might be cringe inducing, but no black entertainer has been able to reach office and have actual sway like white entertainers have.

Its insulting cause the moral compass is lowered and non existent for black folks. There are plenty of wildly popular porn stars but Democrats are not seeking their endorsements and meeting with them at the white house and giving them CNN interviews. So it takes more than just being popular in a demographic as it should be since both parties try to push family values but if thats the case why are they ok with using gang banging rappers who push killing other black people and drug dealing to other black folks but not ok with any other degenerate behavior that extends beyond the black community? If these politicians think those degenerate rappers represent black culture then they are saying they believe black culture is degenerate.

Why not? They're just as much citizens as any of the rest of us. Sharing your opinion is just that. Nobody is forced to follow it or even listen to it at all

Being an expert isn't a requirement to vote. I doubt glorilla knows any less than the majority of people she's speaking to:heh:

Voter turnout is abysmally low amongst my age group. If seeing glorilla talk with Joe biden gets a few birds to vote, that's at least some progress.

I dont see it as overlooking educated black people cause that wouldn't serve the purpose. Their peers already vote. It'd just be preaching to the choir.

Dust queen? Why are you nikkas so judgmental?

And she didn’t endorse shyt. I don’t see why yall mad at this lady who didn’t even fall for the politricks yall complaining about.m
They hate black people who aren’t of a certain mindset or “look”, also known as respectability politics. They think if all black people pick up their pants all of our problems will be solved, while simultaneously ignoring the fact that most black people don’t sag their pants in the first place, and we still have face systematic issues.

White people don’t complain about the entire race when Kid Rock is on Fox News sounding like an idiot. Glorilla didn’t even do or say anything wrong and we have black folks in here judging like they’re on the Supreme Court.

And they hate hip-hop because they have a myth in their mind that it’s the reason they can’t get a woman to like them.

Ah yes, white people do it too. Who said anything about hating black people?

I said she was dusty and that they could have found someone more qualified to speak on politics, what’s so bad about that? Would you trust an electrician to speak on plumbing?

They could have plucked any generic person off the street and they would have given the same answer.

To me politics isn’t a laughing matter, you send your best and brightest and if you put someone like Glorilla up there to speak on it then I don’t know what to tell you.

I said glorilla is dusty and that equates to hating hip hop? How?

Them boys got on suit and ties and are there to support a specific tangible bill that would directly benefit the asian community. If they showed up as asian caricatures with no political agenda to sing and dance for Joe and Kamala you might have a point.

There are bright black people speaking about politics on multiple networks and platforms literally everyday. Why is Glorilla looked at as our overall representation?

I would agree with everything you've said IF the culture (rappers, STRIPPERS and athletes) didn't have a stranglehold and run the community on a social level.

But unfortunately IT DOES.
