:dahell: Why should Bedford been fired after last season? The defense was Really Good in 2014. We all know the issues in 2015 were because of playing freshmen, lack of upperclassmen talent, & injuries all in the Front 7. This season the run defense & pass-rushing has improved to satisfactory/solid levels, but the HUGE problem is the Secondary is playing HOT GARBAGE.

If Texas could just get the secondary to just play competent the rest of this season, UT could win 8-10 games this season.

I guess I never really much cared for Bedford and I always thought were we going to get the same defense that we saw with him at Oklahoma State back in the day. The 2014 defense was pretty good but 2015 was extremely bad even with the youth at the d-line after losing Brown amongst others. The 2016 looks like the defenses that I saw when he was at Oklahoma State.

:ehh: Well at least you're consistent on not liking Bedford. Most of the folks who are complaining about Bedford now, weren't complaining when he was hired.

it was a solid hire at the time, im an advocate of giving college coaches 4 years but they have been poor this year. Cal is a shyt loss, program was 1-11 a few years you have to win that game as a ranked team. then losing by 3 scores to a decent Ok St team

i dont really see a shift in talent. the secondary is as bad as it was when he took over, and while early their '17 class doesnt look too exciting. Buechele has talent, doesnt seem to be ready. with OU being down this and Baylor having a scandal this was a year to gain ground, blew it

Defensively, Texas would hold their own in ANY other conference....offensively OU would do just the same anywhere else. Don't judge by the results you see in this conference. These mickey mouse schemes are killing this conference. If Alabama played an Ole Miss offense EVERY WEEK, they'd lose 1 game every year they have no business losing.
Yep, I agree with you. And Ole Miss ain't as fast as Okie St or Texas Tech. It's tough fielding a formidable defense in this wacky ass conference. Who has done it other than TCU? I think that's where the misfit with Charlie Strong is more than any cultural issues.....Strong has adjusted to that off the field stuff at Texas. He hasn't adjusted to the fast paced hurry up/no huddle offenses in this league. He looked lost last Saturday.

No, They can compete in the big12(OU won it last year) Its just hard to win the big 12 and beat the elite teams outside of that conference.

Mike Leach and Art Briles ruined the Big12
I agree the problem is every high school team in Texas runs this type of offense now. :francis:

Some of my Tar Heel fan brethren are nervous about losing Fedora to Texas if they whiff on Herman. I'm willing to go on board and say I would welcome Charlie with open arms to Chapel Hill. Get a good OC, and get back to pimping that Florida pipeline and let's go. We not gonna trip on 8-9 win seasons. And I'm sure every few years we can run into an 10-11 win season.

Ain't shyt wrong with Texas players. no1es run this basically said what the problem was. The biggest mistake Charlie made at Texas was bringing in Shawn Watson as OC.
Better talent in FL period. That's why he was successful at Louisville

yeah I personally don't remember seeing that 7 on 7 spread offensive talent on the fields when i was in high school 15 years ago. It sucks that it has taken off in the Big 12.

It's going to be interesting if Strong beats OU and wins 8 games. I'm not sure Texas will pull the trigger if that happens.

But the offense is now scoring points more now so Texas has adjusted on offense you just can't play defense anymore in the big 12

Every game in the big 12 now is literally 48-42 so the conference is eating itself with all these wacky games

Texas is the only school in the conference recruiting at an elite level but because of the way the games in the big 12 are played it kinda negates the fact that they have the most talent in the conference

As someone just posted though if there was ever a year where everything lined up well for Strong it was gonna be this year. OU is down. Tcu lost a lot. Baylor lost players that Texas got. If strong fails this year then that's a bad sign

Because he simply knows Florida better than he knows Texas. Not because there is supposedly this much better talent.
Stop it. FL has had the most house hold names in the NFL for the past 25 years. shyt two of them played for the Cowboys with Smith and Irvin:mjlol:

Texas puts out quantity. FL puts out quality.

My boy Rashard Robinson balling already for the Niners. He only a rookie and only played 1.5 years of college ball.

That FL talent is:wow:

Your argument is flawed. If anyone tried to field a decent D, they'd win the BIG12. As of right now, with the exception of KState who has an anemic offense, anyone with a decent D and offense could win the BIG12. But no team has both.
I actually agree. Idk why any of the Texas schools can't recruit a defense in the past five years on par with Washington's right now. Udubb is basically prime Boise state with an elite defense. And that...:demonic:

The last good big12 defense was either the earl Thomas tx squad or the fukking SUH Nebraska team
