In the 80s and 90s, Texas was rarely in the national title hunt.

In the early 80s, Texas was pretty good and nearly won a national title in 1983. But Strong is not on the hot seat just because. He is on the hot seat for other reasons as well that I mentioned earlier.

Texas should really go after Chris Peterson from Washington.

Chris Peterson is a beast.. He stays put tho. Herman will go to Texas. He is already getting that Texas recruit base on his side. No brainer

thats cool, but for at least 25 years Texas were not a national player at all.

I do not say this to support Strong either, I just dont know where this attitude comes from.

Since 1983, Texas has only won 6 Conference Championships.

All these big time type of programs feel they are entitled. Texas isn't the exception.

Honestly think Chris Peterson would be crazy to leave Washington. He has that program going in the right direction. Word was he was the front runner for the USC job, but he didn't want to deal with all the stuff surrounding the program (national attention, boosters, fan base, etc.) that is 100x what it is at other programs. Texas would be the same. Texas' upside is bigger, better recruiting grounds, more booster money, bigger fan base, etc...but if you want to remain somewhat low key, but have a chance at a national power Washington is an ideal fit for him.

Well, let me put it to you like this,.... I'm certain OSU has more recognized titles than Texas... and it doesn't have to be OSU.... They're not USC or Notre Dame pedigree, and they pretend like they are.... that is all.... They're a notch below that like the overwhelming majority of other schools....

You realize Texas is second in all time wins right? And despite only having 4 recognized championships that still has them in the top 10 all time.


And I am sure in your life time UT won a championship(against USC), played for another, and has multiple BCS bowl wins under there belts and numerous top 10 finishes. There is only one school that has been clear and above everyone else in the last 10-15 years or so and that didn't start until the late '00s

Hell.. I can say the same about Auburn, and Auburn is not on the level as USC, BAMA, NEBRASKA, NOTRE DAME, as a storied program.....

So how exactly is Texas not USC or ND pedigree?

He should have never took that job tho like someone said already...he been on the chopping block since day one cause Texas is a entitled place who feel they should be in the conversation for the title every year and they have DEEP pockets...but they've only won less than a handful of national titles in their entire existence...plus he did himself no favors kicking so many big time recruits off the team

I been saying this for the longest. They act as if they won 10 national championships.
