Can a Arcadiumbreh explain to me like a Joey of why the Microsoft/Activision deal is controversial?

OP asks for simple explanation; thread devolves into fukkery.

Go ahead and cook breh, but we gonna act like Halo 2, Quake 1-3, the Unreal Tournament series, Doom and Doom 2, Team Fortress/Team Fortress Classic, OG Rainbow Six, and Counterstrike didn't exist?

The same discussions just move from one thread to the next at this point lol

Stop it. you doing a lot of jewelzing here.

COD started on windows/xbox.

Those are the facts. In the context of talking about close working relationships making acquisitions ok. Microsoft buying activison then would be no different than sony buying Naughty Dogg.

But as usual y’all gotta find a way to spin shyt to make reality not real.
You got it breh, posting facts is "jewelzing" :laff:

Now COD started on Windows/Xbox except the first one didn't launch on Xbox at all but doesn't matter because MSFT=Windows so we gonna just group them together is your logic. Holy shyt.

Now ND is the same as Activision even though Activision is a publisher and ND is a developer. I mean I guess Cash Money Records is the same thing as Universal Music group.

Multiplayer games in the way we know/play them today started with xbox 360 and COD.

Anything else you are saying is nonsense.

The context was a good working relationship:comeon:

So now windows isn’t microsoft?

So microsoft doesn’t have any “exclusives”:ohhh:

So then what the hell y’all in here talking about? Microsoft doesn’t have exclusives, they are a 3rd party dev that sometimes chooses to skip playstation :ehh:

Jesus Christ, this man is loyal.

Ignore the solid decade of gaming history that Microsoft was emulating with the creation of XBox Live, brehs. :dead:
Stop.

PC multiplayer was all over the place. Most games didn’t even really have online. It was LAN multiplayer. Other games you had to pay for the servers yourself or come with your whole party of people and connect manually.

Now we pretending the PS360 era wasn’t what launched online gaming popularity :comeon:

Built in broadband wasn’t a big deal back then? Matchmaking, DLC, etc all didn’t start then???:comeon:

Y’all dudes just say anything to argue. It’s crazy AF.

It’s not even a controversial thing to say that online play as we know it started with that generation of consoles.

In any other context y’all claim it was xbox’s fault for the state of games today with everything needing to be online and DLC and stuff.

Now y’all wanna say the shyt ain’t happen.

Like I said you dudes just say whatever it is to support your argument at the moment.

Now we comparing LAN parties on Unreal to actual matchmaking, online chat, lobbies, etc. :stopitslime:

Buying 1 developer = Buying 10+ developers at once?
At the time microsoft “should have” purchased them it wasn’t 10 studios.

Besides that they all working on the same game. :comeon:

So i’m not even sure why you are holding on to the 10 studios angle here.

is it still 10+ studios? or is it 1?

Simple question.
Dumb question.

There’s no difference in one studio having a thousand people working on one game and 10 studios having 100 people each working on the same game.

The only reason you are holding on to that “10 studios”(which isn’t even accurate) line is because it’s a way for you to draw some arbitrary distinction between sony buying shyt and microsoft.

If your concern is “consolidation” and “games being taken away” then it being 1 or 47 studios don’t matter.

If Activision called them all one studio before the purchase, then would it be just fine? :stopitslime:

Somewhere tropic...
Its simple. MS and their incompetence should be nowhere to close to a position of dominance in this industry
All their billions could have been used to give their starving stans new IPs but nope...
Its fukk MS on everything

Act like GameSpy, MPlayer, Kali, and Heat didn't exist, brehs.

Act like DLC wasn't just what used to be mods and expansions, rebranded.

You got it, breh. Microsoft created modern gaming as we know it, and definitely weren't iterating on previous concepts. Y'all brehs in here wild with the console stannery.

Just answer the questions. Has sony ever purchased 10 studios at once?

and Activision lists them as separate studios.
