But Jay has like 13 albums, how doesn't he love Hip Hop? :why:Some of these rappers don't even have half of his discography. Nas might be more into the core love of it but that doesn't mean Jay doesn't love it either.
Its not about that. He didn't say he didn't love hip hop. He said Nas has a different love for Hip Hop than Jay. It's not about the amount of albums. Most of the moves Nas has been making in the last few years has been purely hip hop related. nikka tryna give pension to Hip Hop legends. Gave Rakim and Scarface 500k each just for being pioneers of this shyt.

Maybe others were advocating for Nas to get involved with it more than any other rapper. Nas is more liked so it made sense for him to get into that. Jay detaches himself from the actual culture. He’s also not active unless he has something coming down the line like a project or other venture.

No. These were Nas' decisions. Hip hop is 50 is all Nas' shyt. From podcasts, to documentaries, etc etc. If u listen to Nas' music, his interviews, his business moves. It's clear bruh. I don't know what ur trying to do here.

Hopefully we can hear from Jay one day about this but this might just stay a mystery :manny:

Maybe Jay didn’t want to go so he can let other rappers get their moment of shine :manny: Maybe he didn’t want to be there to take away from others. We don’t know why so we can’t speculate. There’s no real confirmation of anything. The show was bigger than just him being there. It was a celebration of the art form.

people would've found another reason to be mad if he was there. i promise you that none of this criticism is rooted in actual disappointment of jay not being there :mjlol:. as far as the brady thing, PSA was his favorite song and the song he came out to at games so clearly he asked jay to perform it at his retirement celebration so he did.

Jay not doing anything for the 50th was flagrant

I wonder why he could have made a lot of money doing festivals and concerts with Roc Nation branding

I mean it would’ve been cool to see him there, it was a crazy show. But we also didn’t see Dr. Dre there, or Eminem who is supposed to be about “Hip Hop” so they shouldn’t just be mad at only him.

Ok and Hov does a lot of stuff behind the scenes for other rappers and don’t say nothing when he doesn’t it. And we learn about it way after the fact :manny:

But if he were to go around publishing how he did it, he’d get called “dikk riding fakkit who loves the attention”

Jay absolutely loves the art form, but is he necessarily passionate about creating it beyond filling his wallet? Like breh above said, there's loving something and being in love with it.

Someone like Nas will make ambitious projects even if it means sacrificing sales just because they want to do it, while with Jay it needs to be capitalistic. Passion's the key word.

How would you classify Jay's collab album with Jay E?

He's also known not to charge for samples and guess features according to Kdot

Him not showing up to perform at HipHip is 50 celebrations negate the other ways he's shown up for the culture at his own expense

Helped Wayne pay off millions of dollars in taxes

He isn't as active as Nas the last 5, 10 yrs but Nas isn't married to Beyonce and the father of 3 small children

Not say Jay isn't an opportunist, but aren't we all?

We gonna pretend like Jay hasn’t given money to hip hop legends, including for funerals? Come on.

To quote Nick Saban, this is rat poison. Jay was at the Grammys event for the anniversary, in the front row lol. I have no reason to doubt Jay’s love of hip hop and if Nas had no involvement in the anniversary no one here would assume he didn’t love it. This is corny.
