There’s so much good and bad info in this thread. Worst part about it is the people that need the most help won’t see through the bullshyt.

Like I'm about to make some mac n cheese with like a lb. Of cheese
Sheesh breh, I'd look at the nutrition facts for the noodles and then for the cheese. If 1/2 cup of noodles is 250 calories and 1/4 cup of cheese is 110 calories I'd actually put the amount I'm going to eat in a measuring cup and add it up. I do that with my cereal and almond milk when I eat cereal.

What bad info?

It’s too much to type. There’s a lot of dogma in this thread.

I read about 2 books a month on nutrition. I’ve tried many of the diets in this thread. Mostly out of boredom. I haven’t done any diet in my life that hasn’t worked if you do it the way it’s supposed to be done. The problem is you can’t thrive on them all. But you’ll look nice.

I will say counting calories definitely works. I’ll also say there are easier ways than calorie counting. I’ll only count calories if I’m gonna compete and I have to make a specific weight. Outside of that there’s no need.

Some people can eat less than 50g carbs. For others less than 20g carbs/day (ignoring physical activity levels for simplicity) and change your body composition dramatically.

The best advice I’ve ever seen was eat for your genotype. If your people adapted to eat rice, you can probably thrive on it. If you’re native stay away from grains. The closer your people were to the equator the better you handle fruit. The further away the better you handle meat.

I like what you did by starting the convo. Glad you’re seeing results also. Keep up the good work.

The change up that happens when you start counting calories and giving a shyt about what you eat :damn:

I used to smash whole meat lovers pizzas for dinner or lunch. Not knowing them b*stards were damn near 3,000 calories alone. Never mind what I ate and snacked on throughout the day. I pass them up now.

Since downloading that app and getting myself together I've lost about 65 lbs. I don't use the app daily anymore as I've pretty much gotten my calorie intake down to a science, but the app did its job in helping me change/improve my life, for the rest of my life.

Jesus Christ breh that's half a person. Good job. How long were you losing weight for?

This is what I'm about to be on, been counting for a couple weeks, haven't checked the scale yet (I weigh in every 3 weeks)

but just the appreciation of the practice itself is its own reward. The discipline.

This self-care shyt really works. Tryna get like y'all.

:blessed:
