Lets take GTA as an example. HUGE sales numbers, cross platform. Comes out every 3-5 years building anticipation. Do you really believe in 2018 that this will be released for the amazon kindle fire box or whatever its called? :beli: Maybe it will get a port of GTA4 by then, maybe. Im sure Rockstar is hard at work on GTA6 for Ouya and Amazon :krs:

Farther in the future you may be right but not in this gen's consoles lifecycle. These android tv boxes are for streaming media and kids to play angry birds or minecraft. If nothing else people are extremely loyal to the xbox and playstation brand. No ones looking for amazon unless they really change the game.

Too soon, next gen won't really kick into high gear until 2015, that's when all the heat starts to drop. At the rate the industry is going, it will probably happen, but not until about 2018-2019

Can't agree at all.

Physical medium is still stronger than digital and will be for a while.

People enjoy collecting. The average person is still buying cds and blu rays/dvds.

And by average person I don't mean pc nerds.

basically...

to add on to that:

people are not going to play games like uncharted, halo, gears, god of war, etc. games that take time to play like that on their phones...people want quick, simple, casual type games on their phones, not AAA budget type games....the companies know this...so they not going to risk losing out on the some what guaranteed console money they making on a 'what if' like that...we'll see more simple games/companion apps for games come from companies dedicated to phones, but that's about it...

There are more risks in developing a AAA console game than anything else right now...

no there are not...the main risk companies are taking with AAA is thinking bigger is better, but that's another topic...in regards to phones/consoles, there are too many x factors for that to ever happen....and companies not gonna risk losing out on the money they making from consoles, to gamble on all those x factors...

exactly why the focus will be shifting to the micro consoles and phones...they will eventually get it and realize they can do that on devices that are in the hands of more people than just a home console.

Think about it

@Liquid :wow:

:russ: breh this was three years ago, I don't even want to look at the numbers now with Google music, Spotify etc blowing up

http://money.cnn.com/2012/01/05/technology/digital_music_sales/

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- The times they are a-changin'. For the first time in history, digital music sales topped the physical sale of music.

According to a Nielsen and Billboard report, digital music purchases accounted for 50.3% of music sales in 2011. Digital sales were up 8.4% from the previous year, while physical album sales declined 5%.

I stopped preaching to these cats back from SOHH same dudes was even saying that Android was gonna fail cause Google is a browser / search company online, that Blackberry was gonna make a comeback because business would never leave them and that Netflix was gonna fail soon as blockbuster started streaming and because of redbox

These micro consoles are going to take over they will act as pc's/consoles/home entertainment system all for fair prices and power

Lol dudes here tend to forget they are the elitist minority, the average consumer is who these companies cater to

Bbbbbbut I can't let my BF borrow my physical copy of battlefreeze 8

no, you need to think about it....those lil games will never make as much money as cod, gta, madden, etc....so companies not gonna stop making those type of games...they'll start to cut back on the budgets, but that's about it...

the most you'll see is more lil casual phone dedicated type games and/or more phone companion apps come from companies, but that's about it...

just like digital being the only media for shyt is a pipedream, so is this...
