Bruno mars makes Kids bop versions of old songs.

My issue is once the hype wears off the songs sound watered down as hell and not something that came from Jam sessions.

Cats like Prince had tons of white folks in his bands who spun off and did solo stuff but the music seemed more authentic (maybe because Prince still had a hand in it).

That’s my beef with him too. Not necessarily the fact that he’s doing that old sound in general, but it’s sounds so watered down. It’s sounds.... clean, and not in a good way.

This is a far cry from Teddy Riley, DJ Freeze, DeVante Swing etc.

Beyonce be appropriating the fukk out of black culture, you won't hear a peep tho.

Black artist appropriate too.

Also see Donald Glover
That 69 dude
To a certain extent most mainstream rappers.

They not living the life they portray in their music, and the cater to a mostly white audience.

Mantan anyone

Boom.

Exactly, then we would have to get a TON of music artists the f*ck out of here, lol.

This argument again- Bruno has always given credit to all the black singers and their respective place in an era. He’s done all this shyt since he came out. shyt during the press release and album rollout for 24K, he said many times that he wanted to make something similar to the sounds he grew up with. Homie built his career up to a point where he was allowed to do his own shyt, he didn’t even expect it to sell as much as it did.

If he was really appropriating he would’ve rode Tiller’s wave, done some empowerment shyt like Beyoncé, or dancehall shyt like Rihanna. Instead, he went left and did something he clearly cared about and always wanted to do. Nobody was really listening to fukking Swing music in 2017.

If anything, he helped influence younger people to go back and listen to some of the older acts he name dropped. Chicks like this just complaining to complain- no real fukking argument, just using bullshyt terms, while a bunch of simps and “woke” people say “yas” while sipping Starbucks and looking left for some liberal-cacs approval at how woke she is.

God damn she took em to church :picard:

I agree with her.
She told no lies, but Imma play devil's advocate. How come RnB artist like Tank having to drop tracks like "When We" and don't get me started on Trey and how every song he puts out is about Sex. Look at the Lyrics to "When We"

When we
When we
Mmm
When we
Go
I like it when you lose it
I like it when you go there
I like the way you use it
I like that you don’t play fair
Recipe for a disaster
When I’m just try’na take my time
Stroke is gettin' deep and faster
You're screamin' like I’m outta line
Who came to make sweet love? Not me
Who came to kiss and hug? Not me
Who came to beat it up? Rocky
And don't use those hands to put up that gate and stop me
When we fukk
When we fukk
When we fukk
When we fukk
I could be aggressive (I could be aggressive)
I can be a savage (I can be a savage)
I just need your blessin' (I just need your blessin')
Say that I can have it, yeah
When we fukk
When we fukk
You love it when I lose it
You love it when I go there
You love the way I use it
You love…

We give “passes” out to much, if you ain’t black you can’t eat of the culture pure and simple. We the only ones given other groups access to eat from us.

:pachaha: and how do you propose we stop folks from eating off of our culture? In addition, we don't eat off of other cultures?

i really don't get the issue with bruno - breh has done r&b, funk, soul, and "pop" records from the get-go. now because he had a great year with a "period" album (new jack swing/babyface style r&b) black folk wanna sit here mad? breh truly has an appreciation for music and is doing what he loves, other black artists could be making these records as well...stop blaming him.

and please don't act like dude had the privilege white guys doing black music have as far as a easy path to success/sales. breh is a mutt from two races/ethnicities that don't garner much praise/notice/success in the music industry, plus he's a midget :heh:, looks like a lesbian, and from hawaii (a place lacking industry connections). like he had everything stacked against him as far as who becomes successful in music.

Another thing .....

Y'all give people too much credit for being able to discern what's good and what's bad music.

You usually have to devote a certain amount of time to breaking down a good artist work. Not so much with other artist. People don't have time for that.

I think what Bruno does is from the heart, he's talented and makes the music he grew up on. The kind of music he made on the last album ain't deep. It's car riding, sing along, party music.

Guess what ....

It was perceived the same way when the black artist did it.

That looks like a Baltimore Orioles shirt, a team owned by a white person, sold by Fanatics, a white company, while twitter handle is Sensei(Asian Teacher). So is she culture appropriating white and asian culture :jbhmm:

is it oochie wally or is it one mic :jbhmm:

in before cac this and cac that

I just think a lot of these 'culture vulture' arguments are weak and insane and majority of the time its coming from someone using something from someone else culture in the first place (fashion , etc.). Basically a whole bunch of fakeness for retweets

are there culture vultures? Hell yea! No Jumper Adam dude and Iggy Azalea are obvious. People who didnt grow up around any element of anything they are trying to sell = culture vulture

Bruno Mars :usure: why we acting like there arent videos of him as a youngin doin the same shyt :usure: he cant be a fan of michael jackson when hes a kid and doesnt even know what the words culture vulture are and mimic his moves :usure: he supposed to give up his dreams cause some nerds on a forum called the coli gonna hate him :usure: bruno mars was dancing and singing like this before forums was even invented :usure:

im probably gonna get negged for this post but fukk it, the shyt needs to be said.. this shyt getting ridiculous.. so a mafukka cant dance and sing since a lil kid no more :martin:

If bruno mars a culture vulture than anyone who posts in this thread agreeing with her who owns a Polo, Gucci, Versace or anything like that a culture vulture as well  you cant complain about it and then do it yourself

just tired of the fake outrage
Calling Adam 22 a culture vulture is a reach. He grew up in the 90s on the east coast who tf doesn't listen to rap? And bring that he know lives in LA, that emo/hardcore/underground scene is all one big scene out there.

Tired of these, “b-b-but what if so and so made an album, it wouldn’t have sold”

shyt isn’t an argument because there is nothing to base it on. Maybe if these R&B singers stopped trying to fukking rap and make trap anthems, they would be more open. Why blame Bruno, for paying homage to those of the past, while his contemporaries are chasing a quick buck.

Be mad at others for not making music like that. We had Usher making stripper songs and shyt, but wanna get mad at someone trying to reinvigorate a genre that hasn’t had mainstream buzz since past 94. Foh.
