First off Red Hook is gentrified and Brownsville and East Ny is well on its way. Do you think just because the area was rough it would stay the same? Money beats any thug every time . Those places were nice along time ago and someone with a brain redeveloped the parts that needed it. The rest of the people who still trying to live like it's the 90's are leaving. The only bad thing is that the people who are good and law abiding are getting moved also . That's the real tragedy that a small sub group of losers ruined for everyone . All this drug money these hood legends as people on this site say made went into nothing positive. Giving cook outs does not count. Imagine some drug lord had giving money to some youth center where kids could have learned a skill? Or have money to a guy who wanted to open a deli or laundry or auto shop? Those dealers could have left something positive for the people who wanted nothing to do with that moronic lifestyle. Instead of a new rope chain and car could have gone to a scholarship or tuition to a good kid who needed it. But that was not the case.
Damn shame. All that opportunity offered in decades past, and short-sighted people refused to see the changes. Funny how posters in here rep like they are still thugs from the black in the 90s, but they glorify all the ills and none of the hard working people that weren't taught the concept of ownership. When East NY gets gentrified and South Bronx gets it too, there is no one to blame but the residents.
