When I was driving trucks over the road (meaning all over the u.s) I would be shocked and relieved at the same time to see black people in certain places. Places like Iowa, Minneapolis, Wisconsin.

I had stopped in Davenport, Iowa last year to watch game 7 of the Finals and was blown away at how many blacks were there.

I grew up in the south so I'm kinda ignorant when it comes to other places. I know blacks are all over but certain places aren't automatically associated with black people so its a shock to outsiders like myself

I lived in the Quad Cities for a brief second. There's a decent amount of black people in the area, and a few semi-famous athletes from there (Ricky Davis, Michael Nunn, Acie Earl).

Davenport got hoods like any other spot. I lived there shortly after the movie Belly came out and it had some similarities to how Omaha was portrayed in the movie. There weren't any major black clubs but everybody just used to go to the whole in the wall hood spots or downtown Rock Island to party with the whites. I smashed a gang of brauds when I was there.

I live about 10 minutes away from Wilmington, DE and believe it or not that place is like 60% black and 27% Hispanic. When i tell people that they look at me like im crazy :russ:.

Most people usually dont usually associate Delaware with a large black population. But yeah its alot of us out here.

Xenia, Ohio has a Black (lots of mixed folks tho) that surprised me.

Pine Bluff, Arkansas is allll Black. I know we know its Black but when I tell you in 4 yrs of living there I could count how many whites I came across... Never seen a place that Black.

Upstate NY cities have a lot. In Rochester it is majority Black, areas like 19th Ward have a lot of old Black community going back to the Underground Railroad days. Frederick Douglass is also buried there.

NORTH LAS VEGAS
North Las Vegas is the Black area I hear. Unfortunately it is pretty poor.

I'm from North Las Vegas...And yeah it is grimey as hell....The old Westside Las Vegas is where all the black las Vegas history is tho...The first desegregated casino hotel was in Westside Las Vegas.... Sammy Davis had to stay there because blacks weren't allowed to stay on the strip back then

Minneapolis-St Paul has large black populations. North/South Minneapolis, East St. Paul, Brooklyn Center/Park, Fridley, and East Bloomington just to name a few. A lot of people come from Chicago up here because the cost of living is lower, there are more jobs available, and there is less violence in general.
Ive heard of Brooklyn Park and Brooklyn Center. They effectionatley call them "The Brooklyn's" from what I've heard from others.

Hmm, Morgantown has the college atmosphere. So there isn't one specific Black area in Charleston? I thought there would be. They got a town named Hurricane in WV?

:krs:

Black folks must be coming into WV from the surrounding cities and states.

I wonder tho, do you have the accent Black Barbie?

:lupe:

I have family in Charles Town, WV. They mostly commute into MD and DC for work. I rarely ever go there but they swear more and more AA are coming to the area.

Yep. That's why I made this thread. Because it's soo interesting to look up and research the black populations in cities and towns not typically associated with Blackness. I heard many of the Black folks in Iowa have connections to Chicago.
