BMW is a good game. They put a lot of effort into art direction and lore, but the game is a basic GoW like with some Souls elements.

If my game was rated the 139th best game on metacritic for the year I’d just count my blessings it was even nominated for goty and won players choice

it makes me stand even more firm on my opinion that stellar blade is the better game

Eh i think it was getting some unfair treatment review wise for other non gaming reasons. (China, the lead dev controversy)

It definately was the only game this year that felt alittle more like a next generation title, and ambitious. It winning would have put more devs on notice to step up than what astro bot will. And somehow...the industry seems to avoid having to match bars.

Same happened with cyberpunk , that game to this day eats alot of devs lunch and it didn't get treated that way. Look at what happened when starfield released and it got compared to phantom liberty, people had to admit that CDPROJEKT was shytting on nikkas.

Now if that same game got treated appropriately initially, maybe starfield woulda had to step up. But they thought shyt was sweet because we pretend FROM is the top tier lol

So yeah...I rooted for Black Myth on principle.

Astro bot no dev will feel threatened. And I want them to feel threatened. Black Myth is closer to a threat.

...c'mon dude lol. And that also means it wouldn't have gotten third place.

Easy allies and some other sites didnt even want to review wukong. It definately was getting treated oddly for what it was doing as a new IP.

And it would've actually set a better precedent if it had gotten celebrated for its ambition, and achievements as a new developer. More devs would have had to raise their game. With Astro Bot they have an out.

Naw, other than graphics/presentation the game isn’t doing anything special.

It released as a mess technically and the gameplay/level design was last gen or worse.

It just hit a good pocket of hype for various reasons.

There was more nuance in the movesets and creative opportunity in the mechanics than most soulslikes for sure....
