Fromsoftware are limited by their engine. If Demon’s Souls, a remake of their own game didn’t cause them to massively step up Im not really sure what will
FROM released essentially the same game for a decade. I dont believe they have the talent to actually do a proper story oriented title, and they mask it behind their design philosophy.

But thats the shyt we praise eh?

Sekiro was a pretty linear story game from them.

Most if us praise Fromsoft because their games get to the shyt, and games like Wukong wouldn’t even exist if it weren’t for them. Wukong/Game Science is Miyazaki’s son.

Even if you believe they are resting on their laurels a bit, they pretty much perfected a formula that no one else can really match. The reason I don’t love Wukong is because hitting shyt with a stick for 30 hours is just not that fun at the end of the day. I’d also bet money most people playing it don’t even understand the story being told in it either. It looks nice and cinematic but it’s hard as hell to follow

Last gen in comparison to fukking FROM software which people praise? No it doesn't lol

There was more nuance in the movesets and creative opportunity in the mechanics than most soulslikes for sure....
You can’t even step over knee high obstacles in the game. Wukong still trying to catch up to Dark Souls 1 :stopitslime:

Whole game got one ass weapon and you wanna talk about game mechanics :stopitslime:

See, a rare case where people are weirdly discrediting the most technically impressive game of this year. Everything else looked like it could come out on ps4.
I'm not trying to discredit the game. but a lot of the numbers the game achieved seem to be the result of a lot of people in China supporting the game

God of war 1, 2, and 3 , DMC 3, Ninja Gaiden etc all didnt "get to the shyts" quick enough?

That existed before souls, and they all had better stories, and expansive movesets that let you explore creativity and skill. FROM actually took us some steps back honestly. With only a simple strong and light attack with no variation. No storytelling. Appealed to the westerners who cant do an S combo in dmc 3, and had triggers like a shooter for combat commands.

If anything black myth takes just as much from those other titles, more so than souls. Black nyth has fukking skill trees, FROM games do not. FROM didnt even have a jump attack until recently. The fact that there are transformations and combos tells us that it didnt purely get inspiration from souls.

Souls didn't invent the action genre, it didnt even do it the best.

Someone didbt do aerial attacks or incorporate transformations into combos. There is more variation than the same two attacks you can do in souls.

Souls just added jump attacks like a game ago. Stop.

Stiffer animations, less options of what I can do. Light attack strong attack and thats fukking it.

Sekiro has jump attacks in 2019. Fromsoftware also made games like Tenchu

Wukongs boss fights are more like Fromsofts more than they’re like DMC, GoW, or Gaiden. The set difficulty, bonfires to rest and level up, respawning enemies, collecting souls, etc. etc.

Wukong is a child of modern era action rpgs which was birthed by Souls games.

Wow 2019 is the first time they did jump attacks lmao

Wukong is built around skill trees and unlocking abilities and chaining those abilities. Of which does not exist in a Souls game. And the points are not lost once you die. Making it like any other rpg where you collect points from enemies. Did you forget other games before Souls had you gain xp from enemies? Lol

Souls formula is actually an old one. They didn't invented boss fights bro. It's clearly a step back from God of war 3 or even 2.

They can't touch the depth of mechanics in dmc 3 on fukking ps2. So how is it "modern".

Call me when FROM can make a witcher 3 then a cyberpunk a couple years later. With actual real quests. Thats talent. Not this shyt.

Unless you're a bro gamer that only likes to fight lol

You said souls needed to catch up. Wukong has PS3 level design and gameplay

Wukong has one damn weapon. There’s no way possible to argue there’s more combat options in the game.

That one damn weapon has more mechanical variation than souls. You just are a noob and dont know the difference.

Souls has a ton of weapons but they literally use the same inputs with a different animation. Wukong has varied Ariel attacks like if you do jump and square, then hit an enemy then deflect off the enemy and do a triangle attack in mid air.

You can also chain L2 to do deflections, switch stances mid fight, and add transformations to a combo,. Thats far more variation than you get in "strafe, strafe, light attack strong attack, and press weapon art"in souls or elden ring.

Please understand your combat. This is why souls appeals to you. You only use the most basic of inputs in other action games.

You probably played OG god of war only using square square triangle didnt you?

I love both CDPR and Fromsoftware and the former can’t make games like the latter either. CDPR are notoriously bad at combat and boss battles, let’s not even mention level/dungeon design

My breh.

You are comparing one weapon with a couple different stances, to dozens of weapons, magic, ranged weapons and more.

As an action game, Wukong is nowhere near as good as some of the really good character action games. DMC, NG, etc.

As a stamina based “soulslike” it’s nowhere near as good in level design or combat.

The game is the epitome of mediocre. All flash and graphics not much substance.

Yeah and then they made cyberpunk. Which has nasty combat, especially for the genre. Try doing this in any Bethesda game:

And call me when FROM can do this:

Now if you only play console then...I feel sorry for you. You dont know any better.
