Should we be concerned?

Plummeting Enrollment Leads More Colleges to Close
College enrollment levels were already projected to decline due to lower birthrates. Recent difficulties with federal financial aid and teens’ growing concerns about cost haven’t helped.

College enrollment could take a big hit in 2025. Here’s why.

The nation’s declining birthrate could hurt enrollment numbers.

There's A LOT of bread out there scholarship wise that many of us don't take advantage of and because they are private they don't have to adhere to DEI cope cacs are using.

We also need to start setting up and funding our kids 529s. They aren't federal tax deductible, but they are state tax deductible. I know in GA and other states that lottery revenue funded tuition for kids with good grades in high school can also help offset the cost.

When you don't know better, it's hard to do better. But in this day and age, there's no excuse for not knowing better anymore. We have to do a better job.
Most parents aren't saving a damn thing for their children's college education. I had to pay my own way like a ton of other people I know. And my college debt wasn't that bad back in the 2000's compared to now. It's insane how much tuition has increased compared to inflation.

I think real mentorship is needed early on and throughout the process. What I've learned working with young people over the years is how uncertain they are about education but also lacking the know how to find the resources. A lot of our elders thought just going to school and getting a job like they did was still working..operating on outdated information. Young people need people in their life who are actually in the know on current trends.

Look at a program like Year Up. Comprehensive Job Training Programs for Young Adults | Year Up United

You don't even need anything more than a high school diploma. A year of training and internship placement in IT, cyber security, customer service, data analytics, or another chosen industry. And after that year, you're helped with job placement with their partners.

But if you didn't know what to look for you wouldn't find this. There are countless other programs I've researched and brought to my young people. I didn't even know about a lot of these opportunities until recently.

Professional black men have to connect with each other and be proactive with the young black men around them or even ones they come in contact with. Cause everyone is looking for a little guidance.

Morehouse grad not in the STEM field. I make a decent (above average salary) I'm in NY though so that's speculative. I will say in 8/10 of my job interviews, they mentioned my school in some capacity and I know for a fact because I went there and came in with a suit, I've gotten the job at least twice.

Personally, I really don't care about colleges closing. They have become greedy and very stubborn business entities.

If you have a fence and a white man keeps knocking it over, you can blame yourself and claim it is because you didn't do this or that ut it doesn't change the fact that the white man is the one who keeps knocking it over.

Can you give a modern day real world example of the white man knocking a brother's fence over? A real life equivalency that the analogy would apply to.

What do you see as the solution to this? Because if the father isn't there or ain't shyt and the mother ain't shyt or resents the child then what can be done?
Stronger community and actually calling out abusive mothers instead of constantly coddling them and running a narrative of them being the victim. We also need to address the anti-Black propaganda in our music/media these days.

Black children, particularly boys, can see how the community operates. We don't make safe spaces for them and most adults just don't care. The kids need to know how their mothers treat them isn't right and they need to know they have support from Black men to help them advance in life.

A big part of the problem is that hustler mentality of getting it on your own. Too many people chasing fast money. Getting an education or going into the trades is too slow for many people. That's why I hated that Dame Dash shyt years ago because of how harmful that mentality can be. Trying to be an entrepreneur is hard as hell and takes A LOT of work. So it leads to nikkas forgoing education and just falling victim to scammers as they jump hustle to hustle with promises of big money if they just pay for the courses.

We glorified the athletes and dealers and look down on the people that's making a solid salary and making a decent living. Instead everybody is chasing the big money dreams instead of securing a solid career. And then if you want to hustle use the money once you have a solid foundation to fund the side hustles. Instead others just want to jump to the hustle and have nothing to fall back on.

I feel ya. Same for me. But I took the initiative to take the ball out of their hands. Got the gubment (Navy) to pay for my shyt. Delayed my admission for a year so I can get this Navy Scholly bread to pay for school by going to a Navy ROTC prep school. Granted I didnt' finish the program in school and had to pay them back, but I was in debt 80k coming out of school in '01. But the flip side is me doing that year at the prep school made me technically enlisted for a year which means I was an independent student applying for financial aid and shyt. The one area I fukked up on is not changing my state of residence to GA to get cheaper tuition rates...and not applying for food stamps!! I coulda been the fukkin king having BBQs and shyt off food stamp bread!!!!! Broke, poor, independent Veteran! I coulda been eating good Word to NORE!!! :why:

Black people in general is in a bad spot, you seem like you on a crusade to make it that black women supposedly doing better and achieving more than black men, like you dividing the people

So yes it’s weird to use the term “adjusted” comparing black men and women place in the country when we both fukked up
nikka you're just in your feelings and putting on a pathetic display of juelzing
