I hate to be the contrarian but here goes:

1. Hollywood runs the movie industry right now in terms of money, influence, and success.

2. Most of the people who support hollywood are NOT the 12% of black people in America...but the nearly 60+% whites.

3. You focus on where the money is.

Movie making isn't about morality. Its about making money.

The sooner ya'll get this, the better off you'll be.

You can't complain about demographics and representation...WITHOUT UNDERSTANDING DEMOGRAPHICS AND REPRESENTATION.

And of course you have data to back up these points.:ohhh::usure:

I remember seeing this interview a few years ago....those fukking cacs were cot damn furious.

One thing that needs to be pointed out...these are the cacs that claim to be oh so progressive and forward thinking. These are the cacs that claim to be oh so tolerant.

At heart, they are truly no better than some confederate flag waving Arkansas hillbilly. NO different at all!

peep the cast for upcoming movie:

Gods of Egypt

clearly Egyptian right? :lupe:

These god damn cacs are fukking ruthless.

I hope that one day my people are on top, and when we are, that we NEVER forget these centuries of white domination and oppression.

The most disgusting sub-species imaginable.

Yeah because "rich business folks" only care about the money. They don't fund religious/social/political ideologies that they believe in. They don't create think tanks that are solely geared towards social change and that seeks to undermine legislation so they could position themselves/colleagues/offsprings to retain power/influence, while at the same time limiting other folks power/influence
:comeon:

So COT DAMN TRUE. Sick of seeing c00ns support this demonic bullshyt with some appeal to the free-market.

Whites have NEVER been that logical when it comes to black people. Ever.

And how many number 1 movies have Will Smith and Denzel had? Let's not kid ourselves, Hollywood could easily find a bigger space for blacks within the business. They don't because of racism, nothing more and nothing less.

Inna Modja, french singer.

Let me just add, I'm still iffy on Steve McQueen. Right now, his muse seems to be Fassbender...I'd like to see "Shame" with a black dude, "Hunger" with a black dude. Let's not stan for this dude just yet.

Also, I actually just read this interview a few days ago : http://blogs.indiewire.com/shadowan...12-years-a-slave-his-brand-his-blackness-more

TO: So your blackness, or African-ness, if I can say that, doesn't at all influence the decisions and choices you make as an artist.

SM: No, no. Never has. I don't dare think in that way. I wouldn't dare.

I hope that he makes more films with black casts...and that they all aren't historical in nature.

@Box Cutta still has that African bed wench in his avi? :heh:

This boy is hard headed. I done told him her dude is a full blown french cac and he still refuses to believe. Oh you gon learn.:pachaha:
Did my research and found nothing on her date life....:umad:

They literally were speechless. They couldn't say S H I T!

There's no reason other than them enjoying their positions of power and wanting to hold on to it to be able to push their own visions of a world without anyone but themselves, their stores and their interests, even at the expense of REALITY.

I agree I have no problems showcasing our history in serious theme. However, we should also have an agenda for our future and that agenda should be promoted in our films consciously or sub-consciously

american blacks have enough pull and capital to fund, produce, and distribute movies like this. they would make their money back thrice over at least. oprah, tp, spike, cosby, etc (most of which i can't stand) could easily make a movie about the maroons, the real history of the slave trade, how it has impacted blacks, how our own apathy is destroying our culture/communities, how the music/media targeting blacks is more destructive than productive...and meant to "keep us in our place". promote ideas that we can act on in our own everyday lives to make a real impact. some tragic, but uplifting and motivational sh1t.

the problem is they're scared. notice how almost every movie that shows the tragedy black americans or american indians endured, what ends up happening? a white person always has to be the protagonist. that's the only way it makes it to the screen. the movie becomes about them and not about us. the blacks with the capital, connects and know-how to make this type of industry shift happen don't want to risk alienating their industry connects or infuriating the media henchmen that put them on...aka their handlers. they've sold their souls, more or less.

white hollywood and media won't promote black upliftment unless it benefits them, but even then they don't want to see that happen because then we're not under their spell anymore. our people at the top need to stop being b!tchmade and take risks. stop worrying about what white hollywood will think. stop promoting lame azz movies like the butler and all this bullsh1t tp keeps putting out. it annoys the sh1t out of me that some of these same industry people like oprah and cosby point the finger at blacks for not doing our part, which is also true, but they need to accept that they have leverage and resources to do more than they do. i'm about holding all of us including myself to a higher standard, but we have to put pressure on them as well. they really don't have a good excuse. we can do this without white hollywood.
