basically

but I do think blacks are programmed to "accomodate" when talking about our oppression

Like we don;t wanna offend anyone

anyone that hasnt followed this unwritten rule on a mass scale has been killed, falsely imprisoned or exhiled

Yep...its offensive to talk about black oppression with whites. They actually call you "racist" when you do talk about black oppression. Even Trayvon Martin's parents played into that role. When they were interviewed before and after trial and asked if they think the killing of their son had anything to do with race...they tried to be PC to white folks deflecting the question, not trying to offend whites but rather gain some sympathy by not addressing race in the killing of their son. It still didn't work. I know this though, if I was Trayvon, my parents would go in on cacs with no filter. My dad would drop so much ether he would be forced to go back to Nigeria...real talk.

:heh: You are bringing up Tyler Perry and Madea Goes to jail...a modern day minstrel show...of course cacs are going to gobble that up. You must not know the formula for successful movies with black people in it. Most of the time it involves black people c00nin. It usually involved being inferior to cacs (the Help, Butler, Precious, Blindside), corny/c00nin/ratchet (Beverly Hills Cop, Nutty Professor, Hustle & Flow), being crooked (Training Day). Boomerang and Coming to America were among the classiest, most well written, and well acted movies of their eras but whites did not watch it. White critics destroyed Boomerang in their reviews because it showed black professionals living a good life and being fly.

You missed the point of my response. Im not arguing about the content or quality of tyler perry movies... i was responding to the post that claimed black audiences cant make a movie a hit. love him or hate him, tyler perrys movies are carried by the black audience. and even with his sucess when you look at the number of theatres that show His films it is way less screens than "white" movies cause theatres in white areas and suburbs dont carry them as much.

:whoa: Hold up young jedi...let me school you on some game again. A lot of white people watch Tyler Perry especially the c00nin stuff with Madea. The majority of black people look at things through the eyes of white society. Its the reason why so many people both black and white gobbled up movies like The Help and The Butler. Black people avoided a great movie in Malcolm X at the theaters but ate up c00nin movies historically set in the same era

I'm sorry but Tyler Perry's movies being supported by majority black audiences is not in dispute. I've seen articles that quoted him having to 90% black audiences for his films. that number may be a bit high his audience being majority black is not questionable if you ever went and seen for yourself. Not to mention his films being shown on significantly less screens than his white counterparts because they refuse to distribute them in the lily white areas of the country. Those numbers are not in dispute.

And your not schooling anybody. But I can take you to school and show you how you manage to to call the only black man in hollywood that can green light a film a c00n. A man who owns the biggest black studio in country, and employs mostly black people to work at this company including black writers, black actors, black producers, black cameramen etc.. I don't like all his movies but he does distribute a variety of movies through his company. You probably didn't watch and support "Peeples" but this was an excellent black comedy movie that was distributed this year by tyler perry studios with no "shuckin and jivin". "why did I get married" and "daddy's little girls" were also really good positive black movies. In most of his films he tends to have a balance of successful and professional black characters in addition to the over the top ones like madea.

The real c00nery is the soul plane type movies they make every year.

After Earth was a budget black Sci-fi movie. There no white leads and hardly any white characters period to be honest. Will and son and daughter in the movie had all the screen time. Also it was written and produced by a black man and directed by a guy from India. It's no wonder white media critics tried to tear it down. Was it the best movie of the year, no... But it def was entertaining.

Haven't checked that one out yet. I admittedly wasn't to incline to see due to the bad reviews it was getting. Had I known the backdrop of the whole movie I would have saw it.
