White people stay playing stupid. They know what they doing. They white wash everything and tell minorities "it's just a movie" :rudy: but, they get upset when Spiderman or the Human Torch gets cast with a black actor. I thought it was just a movie Brad? :rudy: Mind you breh....The Hunger Games sold like 25 million books. Everyone across fukking America read them books. It says clear as day in the books that the little girl and her teammate were dark skin and that their District was where the Deep South used to be. But when the movie came out, white people were actually surprised and upset that black actors were cast. These are the people we're dealing with here :camby:

That sounds more like a problem with the audience and not the directors, though. It's wrong, but if you know you can rake in more money by appeasing ignorant Cacs...

actually a lot whites dont know what their doing. the hollywood execs do, but the model theyre pushing is has more to do with the SUBCONSCIOUS thoughts of white viewers then firmly held beliefs. Its all theoretical anyways. Im not so sure minority actors hurt profit as much as the industry postulates..

In general, liberal whites kind of play stupid on racial issues... but at the same time its just not something on their minds. they arent knowingly turning a blind eye, it has more to do with the fact that they go by the system unquestionably. As far as racial inequality goes, they'll read one book recommended by Rachel Maddow, & thats that...

Trust me, Ive been in a liberal bubble my whole life

theres no conspiracy when it comes to this shyt... just ignorance, close mindedness and conformity

How many people would support a movie about the Egyptians from Tyler Perry's studio?

He is one of the most powerful men in Hollywood. I personally don't like him as a person but he is a card that more of us should be using to gain a voice in the industry, instead we argue over his morality and such.

Hollywood is only liberal when it comes to things like sexuality and relatively trivial stuff like saving the environment.
When it comes to race, they're always on that :mjpls:

Even Asians can't get a fair shot. They didn't even give Bruce Lee his proper respect in Hollywood.

You could probably count on one hand the amount of movies that have Asian leads that aren't set in an Asian country or dealing with martial arts.

C.R.E.A.M

Majority of this has nothing to do with race.

So explain all the outrage over the Hunger Games casting? How about the success of a movie like Precious which was basically a modern day Birth of A Nation?
Those had nothing to do with race?

They don't realize minorities are bigger consumers than whites. Tyler Perry has proven this. White people are holding on to their fading glory.

:dwillhuh::patrice:

We talking about the domesitc or international market?

No, I'm saying it had to do with race, which is why these big studios appease White audiences because it's safer for their profits.

Yes, there have been successful movies with Black cast but those films always are contemporary films that deal with "Blackness."

Domestic. Overseas still on that "Whiteness" tip. Though I heard films like "Pacific Rim" played up the foreign aspect because that is who the market was for their film.

If Tyler Perry made a film that was in the fantasy or historical genre and well done, how many of us would go to it? It'd be a clear example of an audience and I guarantee these Cacs would greenlight tons of those films...
