Prove this
I'll do even better and sum up entirely why its a horrible idea.

The congressional Joint Economic Committee published a major review of 50 years of academic research on the minimum wage in 1995.The study found a wide range of direct and indirect effects of increased minimum wages that may occur. These include

  • Increasing the likelihood and duration of unemployment for low-wage workers, particularly during economic downturns;
  • Encouraging employers to cut worker training;
  • Increasing job turnover;
  • Discouraging part-time work and reducing school attendance;
  • Driving workers into uncovered jobs, thus reducing wages in those sectors;
  • Encouraging employers to cut back on fringe benefits;
  • Encouraging employers to install labor-saving devices;
  • Increasing inflationary pressure;
  • Increasing teenage crime rates as a result of higher unemployment; and
  • Encouraging employers to hire illegal aliens.
A rise in the minimum wage increases the demand for workers with greater skills because it reduces competition from low-skilled workers. This is an important reason why unions have always been strong supporters of high minimum wages because these reduce the competition faced by union members from the largely non-union workers who receive low wages. Minorities are hurt most by this... yet you niqqas push for it anyways pleasing your cac masters to no end :deadmanny:

Proposals to increase the minimum wage can be politically popular because they are viewed as being a way of helping the poor. :heh:However, evidence from a large number of academic studies suggests that minimum wage increases don't reduce poverty levels. Some of the reasons include

  • Many poor Americans (63.5%) do not work, and thus aren't earning wages.:deadrose:
  • Even among the working poor, the relationship between earning a low hourly wage rate and living in poverty is weak and has become weaker over time. That is because most workers who gain from a minimum wage increase live in nonpoor families and most of the working poor already have wages above the required minimums.
  • While an increase in the minimum wage will lift some families out of poverty, other low-skilled workers may lose their jobs, which reduces their income and drops their families into poverty.<--- minorities :damn:
  • If a minimum wage is partly or fully passed through to consumers in the form of higher prices, it will hurt the poor because they disproportionately suffer from price inflation.:to:

You have been wrong about everything in this thread.

Everything

You as well. Both of you are posting on feelings and anecdotal evidence.

All the data goes against both of y'all thinking

BTW, only 5% of Americans move to another social economic class in their lifetimes
theres no feelings involved here, that's what separates me and you

and its not anecdotal evidence i just dont care enough to drop census reports on you.

I'd much rather McDonalds just give their employees raises so they can live without relying on the government for "assistance" because that "assisstance" comes out of tax payers pockets
see this is republican nonsense without you realizing it :skip:

un-checked capitalism effects the extremely rich much more than it does you and me

the folks with most of the money pay more taxes for a reason, if not for those blocks to ensure they put money back in the system they would just keep taking it out.

Yall want to whine and cry about the way it should be but at the end of the day, human greed isnt going away. And the system allows it, and will continue too as long as we hold the same population demographic

is it for the best? thats debateable. Will it change soon? not likely.

but the idea that people should just "do the right thing" :laff: yall live in a fairytale if you believe that

I'd rather look at why the cost of living is so high tbh :manny: but adjusting to match inflation isnt unreasonable, its just a bad idea at this time.

if people thinks its hard to find work now, imagine if employers stopped hiring and begin letting people go because of a wage increases :whew:

:shaq2:Of course the left would blame the greedy business owners instead of the policies that prompted the layoffs, all while even more people suffer... minorities most of all. Its an :demonic: game these Democrats are playing.

Prove this
perceived value brah
rZXHgM

thats all the dollar is, if its perceived to be worth more than it is, then you will ultimately get paid less across the board. And the price of goods goes down to reflect the now "high" worth of the dollar

If its perceived less people will be paid more of it(think pesos) and ultimately the products that are perceived as higher value than the dollar are now worth more dollars

consider how many people move up that $2 or so and consider how much that effects small goods like food and gas. The wealthy that determine what to sell their goods dont just magically fall asleep. Over time others will make changes to reflect the new economy.

The only time money increases in value AND you get paid more of it is when the commodity you were growing was tied to your own profits(IE a booming company, land development, finding unexplored sellable resource)

Your acting like its mandatory for people to work at Mcdonalds. If you don't want to work a minimum wage job, don't work work a minimum wage job. Any person in poverty with a GED can go to a community college for FREE. School not your thing? Government offers training to learn a new trade. Cant learn a trade? Guess what your a loser probably doomed for failure who can't be helped. Hate to sound harsh but that's real talk that some people need to hear. Stop complaining, learn to work, be humble, save whatever little money you can.
I'm from the bottom, was raised in projects, saw what was going on and maneuvered out of that shyt. I didnt have parents pushing me to go to school, work ect i made those choices myself. Remember in school I was broke as shyt making like $80 a week on that student work program shyt,while other kids had brand new whips from their parents. I have no sympathy for the weak...You keep making excuses i'll keep making moves.
I'm of your ilk in regards to where you come from, one thing though that I realized a long time ago that a lot of people who came up like you and I fail to realize.

Not everyone is the same. I was fortunate in genetics/dumb luck/mental capacity to see what road I was statistically going to be on and course adjust accordingly. A lot of kids though, aren't mature enough or simply not wise enough to make those observations at early enough ages where it makes a difference. On of the more ironic parts of the way things are done is for the first 18 years of your life the choices you make have some of the broadest reach in terms of life long repercussions, unfortunately this is also the 18 years of our life where we don't know shyt. Taking that further most kids really only have 4-6 years to not fuk up completely.

Kids that don't take those 18 years seriously (and why would they they're fukin kids) are really the people we're talking about. Now they're grown up, staring down a shyt future, most likely depressed, frustrated, STILL NOT CAPABLE (or rather still not equipped) with the right tools to make the right choices.

IMHO our school systems, our parents, our government, businesses, and our society in general is to blame for this.

I don't think the solution is to fuk over companies trying to make money, I also know the solution isn't to fuk over a large portion of the population because of shyt choices they made between the ages of 14-20.

We can continue to dig our heels in the sand and pretend like the problem is minimum wage. The problem eclipses minimum wage so much that it's laughable we're even discussing minimum wage.

Let's say this were to happen. What then? You have crowds of hungry pissed off people with no work, no food, no real solution to their problems but to steal, kill and destroy a system that sucks for them? Who should we blame then? The 1% can continue to pretend like all the problems of the world don't exist; "it's not my fault you made bad life choices"...turns out it is actually. They/we can defer these problems for so much longer before bad things take place. The irony is that the 1% has the means to solve these problems, the sad/pathetic part is that they don't want to.

:wow: i guess the only point i feel is valid for me to make is this.

if someone is able to graduate high school, then they shouldn't have an issue getting into at least a community college, and getting grants.

in my area i see so many people who CHOOSE not to further education beyond high school and wonder why they're stuck making $8-10/hr.

im not counting those that tried school and quit im saying those who never even attempted.
