so in your vision, everyone should have an associates degree from comm. college, when that's not even really giving most people a leg up on the competition anymore. If EVERYONE has a comm. college degree, then they will be the ones working 4 $8-10 and hour, then you'll have to get a bachelor's just to try to get to $15-20+ an hour. You know, there once was a time when if u had a high school degree, and you were a determined hard worker, you could get a GOOD paying job right out of high school, and even better if you furthered your education. The destruction of the unions and republican policies have done alot to cap the success of people that don't have a pre established infrastructure to be successful. Just my $.02

So we're not going to talk about how those who have degrees and can't find jobs are: A. In overcrowded majors. B. Borrowed too much money that they can't pay back, because what they majored in doesn't yield even decent money (~$50K+).

Now I know I cant speak for all, but i know that i dont have the best GPA, and I still have multiple people looking to hire me once i have my BS AND help me get my CPA (aka pay for grad school if i want to go). and that just comes from talking to people.

my backup plan is to become a retail manager, which i'm working on anyways, just to get the leadership experience.

the other backup plan is to go the "bank route". i learned early on in life you have to have more than one plan to get what you want out of life.

i agree w both sides... but I'm not trying to pay a person who flips burgers more than $8.25... and Thats if they are a ROCKSTAR flipper who has perfect timing on when to put the fries in the grease.

I started off at Mcdonalds when i was in college... you can get madd lessons from that shyt - the main one being unless you have Drive this is you life forever. That should be the most motivating thing ever.. and if you're not motivated by that then you are destined to always make MIN WAGE.

I believe people should learn to just accept their destinies.

For 1.5 years I had two fat CAC bishes making me cook swine!! at 4AM!. I can't really feel sorry for these people, I mean there are way too many programs out there.

What type of economic policies and programs and politicians are min wage workers voting and campaigning for???

I can't co sign any of this min wage 15 dollars an hour talk. fukk that, i sold drugs nikka as a youth. foh, i worked mcdonals at 6 then promoted to 8.10. foh. i got an education and did military at same time. FOH And many people have worked 5X as hard as me for less money and supported their fams, FOH.
I really can't support MF's making 15 dollars to make Quarter pounders. naw

This sounds like those old people telling us that things were harder when they were younger so we have no right to complain. If everybody had that mentality then society would never progress because the people who should naturally be aligned with you would be against you out of spite. You sound like those old athletes hating on LeBron and them because they are getting paid more than they ever did. “A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in.”

I could make a case for the other side of the argument.. There are some points to make when billionaire are paying people 7 dollars, or when 1% controls 90+ % of the Wealth, BUT
yeah, for the most part I believe that shyt.

I also believe that we fight for BS.... and are allowed to fight for BS to keep the carrot as far out on that string as possible. By the time WA state, CA, and Ny raise the min wages and other states follow the bigger picture fukkery will have advanced as well.- and WE ALL will be back at square one with half the population contemplating rioting over food stamps n shyt.


The fact that this issue is a story on the news... and the story isn't 44 Million march in protest of the education system or prision system (two of the 10 things that force people in lifetime of low opportunity) etc... says a whole lot.

"Make good life choices" they say, without taking in supplementary information of those workers and their environment. That's one of the problems with capitalism, everything can be explained by "do it better" without taking into account that either:

A) Most Businesses would not survive if everyone was above working at some place

OR

B) Skilled workers would become overly-saturated and thus you would have skilled workers who made good life choices working at McDonalds (i.e., back to step one).


Thus, a system such as this neo-capitalism that we have today depends on there being a criminal class, poverty, wealth disparity, lack of education, lack of birth control, and so on. If ALL people made better lifestyle choices, the criteria for the lower classes would just re-adjust. Therefore, instead of you being a High School drop out to work at place X, now you have to have a Bachelor's degree to flip burgers. Then the capitalist would be in here saying "Well fukking bootstraps, bootstraps, better decisions, bootstraps, trickledown c*nt, bootstraps" nonsense and telling everyone to get PhDs.
