Have you been living under a rock or something? What was the mob doing? What weren't they doing! It's Gotham. They controlled the criminal underworld and laundered millions of dollars. I think your just trolling at this point. Who doesn't know what the mob does. Go watch The Sopranos and GTFOH.

Give me a scene that shows any of this, we have no clue what their business
What is the criminal underworld? Were their into drug trade, human trafficking, what was it batman was trying to unfold, never explained

batman shows up in the beginning of the movie, for no reason, it's never explained what they were doing in that parking structure

the next batman shows up, he's getting lau from hong kong, because they moved there money their, but we have no idea how they got this money and how it relates to crime, it's just a random event

Why would I have to watch the Soprano's to know what another movie suppose to entail

in the 89 Batman we know why Batman beat up the thugs at the beginning, they mugged a person while he was on his normal patrol return, that's the introduction to the character in his everyday existence

we we are introduced to jack napier and crissom tells him to go to axis chemicals to get rid off the books that can link him to the compan Batman gets wind of it, shows up the jack falls into the chemicals, and becomes the joker, the plot begins introductions to the world and characters have all been done at this point

We don't need to know what crissom does, because the movie is sorely about the Joker and his plot to poison the population using the same characters that turned him into the joker

We have no understanding what Batman and Dent are trying to accomplish by putting the mob away, because we have no idea what the mob does, it's never touched open other than being the mob, which is a vague term

Go watch Batman Begins. You are forgetting that film is what introduced the mob in Gotham and the things they did. All your answers are in the first movie.

Batman begin isn't about the mob

It's about Bruce Wayne stopping the league of shadows from destroying gotham

it's the league of shadows behind everything from the start even the reason bruce's parents were killed

We never care what the mob is doing, everything Rachel does revolve around Dr. Crane, who is working for the league of shadows, everything connects from the very beginning to the end

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
Again you are comparing Batman 89 to Star Wars and Wizard of Oz and it's just not in that bracket. Toy Story is a landmark movie, Star Wars is a landmark movie etc. Batman 1989 is not a landmark movie. It being broadcast'd on TV proves nothing more than it is just an enjoyable movie just like a bunch of other movies that get broadcast'd on TV for years. You are claiming it to be a classic movie for a specific audience, people that watched it as kids. In no way, shape or form does that general audience match up or overshadow the opinions, points and views of people in the film industry and people that care and are deeply into cinema. You can have your opinion about the movie's pacing, plot, action but you would be in the EXTREME minority that would just essentially regulate you to being that guy who believes in UFO's and Aliens and uses it/ applies it in everyday realistic conversation.
This is where Ur age is showing...u really Tryna sit here and fix Ur face to say Batman '89 ain't a landmark movie?...everyone that has anything to do with TDK being made would disagree wit that dumb ass statement....

Build a case against them for what?

They never once explained what the mob was doing

They are trying to catch them laundering money in banks that are in on it. There is whole scene in a court house where the mob is being charged with RICO

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racketeer_Influenced_and_Corrupt_Organizations_Act

Also they are trying to sell drugs and have too turn to Crane because he's the only one who making some drugs after the others quit because of Batman. There is a scene that a dude trying to buy drugs but backs off when he sees the BatSignal

I've said my age multiple times in this thread and I coincided to this already noting that it was impactful with the significant help of Miller's novel

Actually they do introduce the mob in the first film. Bruce explains why he wants to go back to gotham to take down the mob. Do you not remember the scene with young bruce confronting the mob guy and him telling bruce he could shoot him in the middle of the restaurant and no one would do anything. You really are dumb. You don't know what the mob does (all mafias make money off of all types of crime. extortion, guns, prostitution, drugs, etc) and yet think you know Batman Begins more than me. Go watch it again and see how dumb you really are. Bruce explains many times why he wants to take down the mob.

Laundering money from what like I said, we never the how the mob operates and what they do, the whole point of Film is to show not tell

if it's just a back drop or the setup for something else, it wouldn't need to expounded

by two hours of the movie is spent on this shyt

and also why the fukk were they doing in the beginning of the scene, the shyt is completely random and makes no sense

also this never is resolved

This isn't what the movie is about

the movie isn't about the mob laundering money

they never resolve this shyt anyway, you are proven my point

You realize that TDK is not rated R. Did you expect Nolan to show drugs being dealt and guns and all the murders the mob was doing??? You are on full troll mode right now. GTFOH and go watch Gotham if you want more details of what types of crimes the mob is into. You have no idea what your arguing and why. Thats like me arguing...

"Why don't they show the kid in toy story more and explain his reasons for liking cowboys and space men? Why do they only tell the toy's story???"

Dumb ass.

But that's not what the movie is about, this just what happens in the process of the story unfolded

from the beginning to the end, the movie is about Bruce Wayne stopping the league of shadows, and the plot begins when Bruce discovers the leagues plans for gotham and burns down the fortress

Even when Batman first appears, it's at the docks where the Microwave Emitter had been stolen, and this once again a plot device, and it was done by the Ra's Al Ghul
who is the protagonist of the film

The whole plot is about this microwave emitter and how they will use to cause mayhem in gotham

this what Bruce has to stop them from doing

It's also explained that Batman has been causing them so much trouble in the time between BB and TDK that they got desperate and hired the Joker

Dumb ass.

Because it's not relevant, the movie isn't about what the kid in story likes cowboys

I asked you what the movie is about, and you brought up all this MOB STUFF, and none of is explained in movie, because the movie isn't about the mob

it isn't about anything

You're an idiot. I'm done arguing with someone that is clearly trying to troll and make TDK look like it didn't make sense. You are a simpleton in every sense of the word. Even after we answered you questions you ask the same exact question again.

This still isn't what the move is about, your explaining what happens, the reason why I don't recall any of this is because its not important
I do remember the back bat signal, but how is that not random crime, batman patrols the night, this is what he does in normal everyday activity, the movie isn't about him patrolling the streets

Conflict and resolution

there is no resolution with any of this mob stuff, because the movie isn't about that

You are just explaining events that have no bearing on the ending of the film

Like I said this movie has no plot, it's just a series of events
