Announced for the big screen last year, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Mattel and Parkes+MacDonald/Image Nation’s upcoming live-action Barbie movie has just brought aboard Academy Award winning screenwriter Diablo Cody! Variety has the news, reporting that Cody will rewrite the current draft by Jenny Bicks.

“Diablo’s unconventionality is just what Barbie needs,“ Walter Parkes tells the trade. “It signals we’re going for a legitimately contemporary tone. We’re bringing her on because she had great ideas, but even more importantly, she truly loves Barbie.”

From princess to president, mermaid to movie star, Barbie has done it all through her more than 150 careers, she has gained valuable experiences and shown her fans that anything is possible for a modern woman. In her live-action big screen debut, Barbie will inhabit many of these roles, utilizing her personal and professional skills to inspire change in the lives of everyone around her. The comedic and contemporary film marks the second collaboration between Sony Pictures and Mattel, which are currently developing a film adaptation of Masters of the Universe, based on Mattel’s popular action figures.

Cody is also well-known for scripting Young Adult and Jennifer’s Body. She also made her directing debut with 2013’s Paradise, from her own original screenplay.

Barbie is being produced by Parkes alongside Laurie MacDonald and Amy Pascal.

Man I'd take A-Team over most of what Bay has given me the last few years. Along with Stretch. But I also think it has more to do with me loving the first bad boys a lot more than the 2nd, which wasn't "typical Bay fukkery" since he wasn't even that guy yet and I think it's the better flick. I'd prefer a different voice since I'm just tired of Bay's I guess. Like I said to @Ziggiy I get the sentiment and feel you, but I just disagree with it and it's not needed for me at all to enjoy the movie. In fact, I'll probably enjoy it more if it isn't him but that's my personal taste. It'd be nice if someone COULD take the series to the more Lethal Weapon type realm where you get the insane action and good character stuff rather than sacrificing one for the other. If Bay is still around of course it won't stop me from seeing it but still, I got my preferences

There was no "A-team" sequel cause it didn't get good reviews and the box office was lukewarm. You can't even blame the cast cause it was a good cast but the movie was flat.

I'm not arguing the success of the movie I'm arguing how much I liked it. The success doesn't bother me in the least except I didn't get a sequel. That's all. Doesn't affect my enjoyment of the flick breh. Nor should it. Like I said for me it worked. Does it have its flaws? Definitely but for the most part I enjoy it and I'd rather see that guy who's also done Narc tackle this franchise behind the lense. If he doesn't cool but if he does even more cool

The first one came out in April, I saw it opening weekend. February is good cause they will have ZERO Competiton. Part 4 is coming out on 4th of July so it will be back in the summer.
