Atlanta is known as a ‘Black Mecca.’ Jobs data tell a different story.

A lot of broke boys and thots are going there thinking they could make it. I imagine Atlanta would be 100 times better if folks would stop going their with their so called dreams.

I don't know anything about Atlanta, but I could move there and be just fine because I have a construction management degree. I have value

very sad to hear.

Ive heard from many people Atlanta job market is tough but I don't understand how someone has a finance degree and is flipping burgers. Something's not adding up. :patrice:

I mean maybe he didnt get chance to save well, or just didnt save up well when he was working. And maybe he has bills that need to be paid immediately. If you gotta pay bills asap, then you gotta work.

But real talk.. N1GGAS IS NOT LOOKING OUT FOR EACH OTHER in the Corporate World and professional fields

Even in the so called "Black Mecca"

Only time Nikkas come together is when it's time to PARTY (get lit) or GET SOME PUZZY or you can FEED THEM

Unless you "they cousin" or frat brother (alpha..sigma..qdog..pha) or part of an association I.e (100 black men)

A n1gga in the A ain't trying to empower you

In 2019 it's a GET IT HOW U LIVE mentally

Same with the byatches ...I kept telling my ex she needs to network better join an association or something...cause being a OUTSIDER with no connections is gonna be rough for her

She didn't listen and her college educated azz ended up in a extemded stay hotel

You gotta be diverse

At the end of the day it's still a white man's world

Don't know too many black folks that are REAL OWNERS OR BOSSES In the corporate world...I learned that...

All my HBCU alumnus who are eating good in thier fields or career paths

I find out really got plugged in by WHITE FOLK
:manny:

Even myself I remember sending my resume multiple times to this same firm I work with based out of Cobb County (ATL metro)

NEVER GOT A RESPONSE

just happen to meet a WHITE guy whose son was in the same grade as my son and they played sports together

Come to find out he was in the same hunting club with the Lead Engineer of this same firm I applied to unsuccessfuly

Within a week I had a fukking job interview

I have no clue what your house is worth or how many bedrooms you have.

But nikka, $600??

A 5 bedroom house in Valdosta is 69k. That mortgage alone is probably around $380. With 5 rooms that’s about $75 a room. Let’s say that house had just two rooms. That’s still about $190. Tack on 50 for the extra bathroom, another $50 for utilities and another $50 just for your own profit.... I’m not getting anywhere near $600.

You said GA/FL border, something doesn’t add up. :patrice:

You got to give us some more details. It ain’t like Georgia ain’t known for its hustling ass nikkas.:mjpls:

I’m undecided on this...

On one hand it seems like a good deal based on the amenities he’s offering

Then again I live in New York. Lmaoooooo

I remember the days when you could score a room out here for that price. Maybe guys down south are simply amazed that property and cost of living is passing any threshold that the northeast has

I believe it. Some kats might not know how to network or don't have any experience on ther resume or have a very basic resume that doesn't stand out or aren't in any organizations that can help them get in front of people hiring or don't have any connections.

It can be a whole list of things. The thing with a having degree you should always look as yourself as a NBA free agent like lebron james. Don't think of it as I only can work in this location or I must only work in this city. Cause you basically reducing your opportunities.

You got to be like that old western from the 60s "Have Gun Will Travel" or should I say "Have Degree Will Travel"

I’ve been in the Atl almost two years now and the poverty and homelessness is something else. A combination of picking shytty majors and a focus on Entertainment careers has really held back the black population here. The burger flipper guy is an anomaly, he SHOULD be able to find work in finance even if it’s as a bank teller. People need to learn real life desirable skills. Healthcare, trades and Stem right now are in demand fields. Stop trying to be models, rappers, ig comedians and actors.

Also networking is BIG and one thing I’ve noticed while maneuvering around the corporate world of Atlanta is that the blacks that are successful are very articulate and don’t necessarily have an accent typical of the area. Very Russel Wilson-esque which allows them to maneuver different social circles easily.

It’s hard out here, but you these entertainers in Atlanta and those broke fools on love and hip hop or real housewives selling blacks bullshyt about Atlanta is the black Hollywood and everybody getting it

That’s why I tell folks all the time up north , just stay in DC, NY, Chicago working and getting paid and don’t buy into this Atlanta bullshyt...

The draw is the lower cost of living that ATL has compared to DC. A few of my coworkers moved from DC to ATL, but the catch is that we all work from home so it works out in their favor.:yeshrug:

This is funny to me because literally everybody I know that moved down there eventually came back because they couldn’t find decent work. I tell them the same shyt I tell y’all, if you can’t make money and stay out of nonsense in Chicago then anywhere else won’t be any different.

nikkas visit ATL and see / hear how cheap it is to live out in area but COL doesn’t matter if you aren’t making any real money.

Exactly.... I see it all the time in Los Angeles

Transplants run here thinking they going to get on cause they can rap, act or looking for a change, then within a year they went back to Iowa or Kansas cause they never had anything lined up, rent running $1,000 a month and that’s just in Compton and they all working at gas stations, restaurants trying to perform their acting or singing skills in front of you and shacking up with 5 roommates or getting turned out in the Hollywood hills with sex and drugs

I'm around alot of communities that don't own shyt but when they get opportunities.. they make everyone of their people eat like they own something.

Ownership is key but community is just as strong. Black people need each other.

This makes Atlanta extremely attractive. If you got a job in DC or Colorado but can work from home in Atlanta, that's some great shyt. Best of both worlds but most work isn't telework even if it offers it.
