The draw is the lower cost of living that ATL has compared to DC. A few of my coworkers moved from DC to ATL, but the catch is that we all work from home so it works out in their favor.:yeshrug:
You don't have to live in the DC metro to benefit from the great pay of the jobs there. Just commute from Baltimore metro. Cost of living is lower. May not be Atlanta Metro low but it's significantly lower than DC metro.

The good brehs of PHI
The really scary thing is that first person. Masters in finance from a top 100 business school (University of Georgia's Terry College of Business) in Atlanta and has to flip burgers is just crazy.

He absolutely does not have to flip burgers. That's a mentality issue.

He could drive Lyft, do focus groups and be a freelance writer and make at least $1500 a week.

So often, we're hard wired to seek employment when really we need to create our own opportunities sometimes. There's absolutely no reason why he should be struggling like THAT.

i was an IT manager and i gotta say the indian consultants i hired or worked with were not good for the years of experience they had. i worked with network engineers and database administrators who's work i had to correct and fix and i don't even know much mysql or cisco configuration. part of why they get hired is because they are paid way below market rate. a DB administrator in san francisco should get paid around 140k yet the indians are getting around 80-90k. they are the majority in the market tho. maybe there is a shortage of workers available so indians flood the market.
Indians get in and start hiring their own. If the recruiters are Indian you don't have a chance. They are notorious for cheating and not knowing shyt which gets covered up because they watch each other's backs.

My cousin did that shyt with just some college credits to his name and a whole baby mama at home at 23 begging me of help for his rent.

By 24, manager.

By 25, they wanted him to work and train folks in Mexico.

By 27, moved back to Atlanta and they made him an executive. The youngest executive on his team by 20 years and the only breh.

By 29, became the company's VP. His girl was his wife by this point and they had more children and she ran some coffee shops.

Let's just say the little nikka made it.

I tried that shyt too. They fired me on day 3. Maybe day 2.
:russ:

That's a crazy level up but your closing statement has me dying.

Disagree here. Finance is not a marketable degree without connections. This is where they fcked up. Its no better than an "economics" masters degree.

Now dont get me wrong here, black people can be competitive in the finance industry; but you need a proper degree in math or accounting or engineering to squeeze in through the QUANT side of things. The inherent difficulty of doing linear algebra and writing c+ is your job security at Meryl Lynch or JPM.

Personally, if i were that breh I wouldve bushed business school (except accounting) entirely in favor of a medical, compSci, or engineering degree. There are very few black BSNs, pharmacists, docs, compEngs , mechEngs, or data scientists without jobs.:hubie:

This is super accurate advice. Unless you have great connections accounting is the best path into finance/ business for the average black college educated person. Unless you have a 4.0 cacs will chose Conner with the 3.0 over you with the 3.0 every time. Also agree with the comp science portion.
