You should revisit that thread :sas2::pachaha:

It was definitely you. Literally wanted businesses that were owned by the community…don’t worry comrade ur secret is safe with me

And next week you'll be crying on my shoulder calling me a capitalist pig. Side note, i know you're in a sh* t hole red state. But we actually have employee owned grocery stores in the north. They do pretty well.

Good because I’m all for what’s written in bold, but I need you to understand your beliefs trend a lot closer to my own and you’d don’t even realize that. We’ve had this conversation before too

US Education system caters to women paired with "fukk school get a trade" ent when it comes to boys why is this even a shock lol.

Funny enough, the more education male bashes, the more frequent school shootings happen. :sas2:

Im a leader and do what works for me. People see my work, and ask me how i do that, then I share how I go about doing things.. If we agree, fine.. If not, thats fine as well. Debating is a waste of time IMO. You're either about the work or you're not.

If I was a healthy heterosexual male, this would make me want to go to a school more.

Black girls are subject to a lot of suspensions and discrimination from teachers too yet they're going to college at high rates...

I was def suspended every years since like 6 grade but I’m just too smart so that did not stop shyt lol. I was toying with those fools :umad:

But on a less anecdotal tip… “According to the most recent data from the U.S. Department of Education cited in the report, nationally black girls were suspended six times more than white girls, while black boys were suspended three times as often as white boys.”

Howard has probably the best business program amongst HBCUs and has good engineering too. Also, Howard is probably one of the few HBCUs where communications and visual arts majors do well (ie Chadwick Boseman and others). But yeah, if you don't know what you are going to do you will be in debt with few good options.
Thank you

Most people don’t know about or have access, or even know they want to be an engineer, and not all programs build the bridge you think they do, i was in upward bound ( a well known black college prep program in Chicago) they take a shinning to a couple kids and push them, but honestly it was just me at the university of Chicago wasting my Saturdays doing extra homework and my summers learning hs subjects all over

I can’t even find a website for legacy civil rights joint
People not knowing about or having access to engineering resources is the reason NSBE exists lol.

Legacy Civil Rights orgs = NAACP, Urban League, Fraternities/Sororities etc.

Some have laxed admissions not all, and for some kids that means the world because they get a shot at college, but like everything in life it’s on them to perform, just like, because kids hit a certain requirement they will some how graduate(to me) and learning material is so relative, to learning style and material

And allowing kids who are unprepared into college is just going to weaken the standard of that school, and just costs the students money when they cant keep up/dropout. Not only that, a large number of HBCU's admit students with an ACT 17-20, which isnt that hard to get and is already lenient. The top HBCU, being Howard University, has an average ACT score around 22-24, while the nearby PWI University of Maryland is 30-34. Also there plenty of community colleges that expand educational opportunities and academically prepare students.

You can apply for multiple and still don’t get said scholarships again relative
A number of states offer free tuition to 4 year institutions or 2 year community colleges. This is just from a simple google: States With Free College Tuition | Bankrate

Not only that, every school has a scholarship office and will assist you in getting/applying to scholarships. The military is also an option with the GI BIll/ROTC which give full ride following a commitment, and if you're really a go getter you can go to school as an international student in Germany and pay next to nothing. Yes its all relative but there are so many options available you cant tell me a student cant get full or partial assistance unless they dont even try.

And once again community colleges exist to lighten to financial load as well.

I don’t think it’s there, most folks don’t even know degree options and paths, i remember some football kids had a degree from Maryland ( i forget the exact study) but with that degree in that shyt had so many pathways, and I’m sure if multiple football players have it, it’s a relatively stress free degree

College is very expensive which is why even white folks are complaining on the student loan debt

College is worthless if you don’t have a plan, and pathway for your degree to get you to a good job, and get you paid, and unfortunately many of us don’t know (see above thought with the degree from Maryland)

Students not knowing degree paths or interests just points to a lack of college planning/prep, which again there are plenty of programs available for. A local community college or University always has outreach programs for highschool students. NSBE, as I said before, is just one of the many stem resources. Your experience with Upward Bound may not have been good but that doesnt mean other kids shouldnt get involved. Having a pessimistic attitude doesnt help anyone.

Basically from what im seeing everything you said just points back to what I said previously: "The infrastructure is already in place for most of these things to encourage college enrollment. I think the real issue is a lack of interest, simply not knowing about these opportunities or myths about college being too expensive or worthless."

I dunno. Culture and upbringing have a lot to do with the issue.

Yeah..
The powers that be and their media always try to present problems one group of Black people are experiencing as somehow being universal to all Black people and in no way unique or isolated.
The culture dictates.
If Black people don't value education in one town, then apparany no Black person anywhere does.

It's a combination of factors.

People who said 'culture' is part of the problem are definitely on point. There are brothers who are seduced by the prospects of quick money rather than the patience it takes to build a career or business, and forego the benefits that come with an education. Education isn't just about intellectual preparation either, but has A LOT to do with networks. The network you build in college can ultimately help you along the way in business or work.

Black men also don't have the right role models that are being projected. It's usually the same; athletes and rappers, and even the business people we do see in media are somehow tied to entertainment. There are many black men in the business space, but these men are not being highlighted, so a lot of brothers don't realize the prospects that are out there.

We also need to think more in terms of community. There has to be more of a mindset of supporting black entrepreneurship and collectivism similar to what many other communities do. Even in a space like thecoli with black men and women from all over, there are too many divergent attitudes towards this.

Also remember that even outside of HBCUs, black women attain higher education at a higher rate than black men. What's going to happen is a lot of single black women out there who will not be able to find their "equal" in terms of their male counterparts. This means they will look outside the black race for relationships, ultimately having an impact on the black family structure. Also, don't forget that many of the 1/3rd may also be black men of immigrant backgrounds, which means that black "American" men may even be pursuing higher education at a worse rate than what is being projected.
