This is a good video on walking. I walk every other day and try to jog 3 times a week but not too much.

Had a gym breh tell me some long winded speech about we’re not meant to run everyday and back in the days people walked everywhere so they were stronger and even back then they only ran when hunting or war.

:childplease:Bruh man!, I’m just trying to get my exercise, leave me alone

Man why did you even stand there listening to that bullshyt :russ:

I use to run 1.5 miles pretty much everyday I would sometimes take off saturdays and sundays.

I use to walk a shyt ton as well. My calves got huge. My stamina was on point. I would try to keep about a 11 minute pace daily.

Rolled my ankle and immediately tweaked my knee as soon as I got over the ankle. My mind hates running so much that that long of a layoff took me out of it.

My cardio is crap right now so I started riding a bike (running was starting to bother my back)

I’m currently not enjoying the same results and feel like my stamina is not building as much as I had hoped or as much as when I was running.

Might just go back to running in the spring if I don’t like how my cardio is building with the bike.

I’ve been wanting to do this for a while especially now that I’m lifting regularly again. I just can’t. Cardio is so boring and tedious to me I do not enjoy it. I’d rather play ball but it’s hard to do that 5 days out the week.

Need to just force myself to do it :mjcry:
Find a nice place to run. Preferably where there are people and good scenery. I also run with the peloton app, so they’re talking to you as you run. It’s a good distraction, especially when they start telling stories. I started the marathon training they have on there and made it to 16 miles. Now running 4-5 miles isn’t even that big of a deal. This is coming from someone who probably didn’t run 2 miles straight until the age of about 24. But I’m in the best running shape I’ve ever been.

Can’t lift like I used to though, probably mostly because I rarely go to the gym these days. But I’m 35 and married. I don’t need to impress anybody anymore, lol. I just need to be healthy

I usually try to run 3 times a week at least 2-4 miles. Usually run to the beach and back. I love to hike here on island see some nice ass views up the ridges. Great workout too.

I was but got injured.
Was doing 1.5-2 miles on days I lifted and 3-4 miles on days I didn't
I started cold turkey though so I wonder if it was just too much for my legs, will slowly ramp up after i feel better. in the meantime just walking for the durations I was running before

What type of injury? I got a recurring problem with shin splints.

Ran 1.5 miles yesterday
Ran 3.0 miles today

Starting to get less winded and more into the zone when running
Congrats. It’s a process.
Don’t be afraid to try run/walk sessions and occasional sprint intervals to keep things fresh.
I live by the 80/20 rule - 80% runs very light/slow and 20% moderate intensity. Also single leg weight training and dynamic stretching are key.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I was jogging heavy for two years from 2019 to 2021. When I copped a crib and moved into a new neighborhood, I stopped running. Going to start again in March, injury is always a fear of mine.

I do 10 mile/15km runs, 3 to 4 times a week. To prevent injury, I stretch before hand. Specifically, I do a variety of lunges for my knees and leg swings for my hips. You especially need to do that if you want to run in cold weather to warm up the muscles around the joints. I also do some strength training for my knees and hips when I can. Leg extensions and hip extensions work for me.

As someone mentioned, invest in good shoes, personally I wear Hoka shoes as the extra support helps a lot.

The videos from this channel helped me a lot in determining how to stretch for my runs. The two below is what I used to develop my own routine.
