How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I was jogging heavy for two years from 2019 to 2021. When I copped a crib and moved into a new neighborhood, I stopped running. Going to start again in March, injury is always a fear of mine.
38

The ankle I rolled it walking down some stairs. The knee I stepped wrong walking and jarred it. Neither were due to jogging.

The back was starting to get stiff though right before my injuries

Running mechanics are also important. Posture, head position, arm movements, etc.

You easily waste much needed energy if you are not running correctly.
This.

And as corny as it sounds unless you have a coach, or really good friend, you should record yourself on a treadmill to evaluate your form.

Make sure you have no tension in your body. A lot of people run with clenched fists or a clenched jaw, or clinching their elbows and/shoulders. That might be fine if your playing football and anticipating getting hit or tackled. if youre just running and jogging and are all clenched up you're wasting energy. Loose fingers, hands, elbow, shoulders, neck, back straight, everything relaxed. Shoulders low.

Unfortunately. A Lil 2 min video ain't gonna cut it. You might be on point when you're fresh. But a few miles in or 45+ minutes in that's when your form may deteriorate as your mind starts telling you to quit and your body starts compensating. So it's weird to record yourself at times but necessary.

I do a couple miles on the treadmill a few times a week, but for whatever reason I'm terrible at it. After like a mile I'm out of breath.

And no, I'm not a fat breh, I'm like 5'9/160 but for whatever reason my cardio stamina has always been terrible.

A good running pace is one where you can talk comfortably. Maybe you should reduce your speed. This is the majority of my workouts. I do a short fast 2 mile session once every other week.

And take longer strides, allowing your legs to do the work with less shock on the body.

People tend to take shorter, vertical strides on the treadmill and up close to the front because of an innate fear of falling off the machine.

Breathing control is another component. Before my runs, I do deep inhales and exhales.
