You could just walk for 20-30 minutes and that’s good enough tbh

This is a good video on walking. I walk every other day and try to jog 3 times a week but not too much.

Had a gym breh tell me some long winded speech about we’re not meant to run everyday and back in the days people walked everywhere so they were stronger and even back then they only ran when hunting or war.

:childplease:Bruh man!, I’m just trying to get my exercise, leave me alone

That's amazing breh. Gotta check out zswift. By hard and light runs I'm assuming the difference you're going by is distance?

Dont necessarily concern yourself with distance. Set goals that are time based and secondarily heart rate based.

You'll get faster and the runs will get easier so if you set a goal for say 30 mins a day, and run that everyday, as your body acclimates you're going to run farther in the same 30 mins after 3 weeks than you did week 1.

If you run within a certain heart rate zone then you can set distance goals because suppose you want to run 10miles but you're not an elite runner...you can run in the heart rate zone of 140 for however long you want, as long as you remain in that zone. But once that zone is unsustainable call it quits.

Races take a lot out of you, they recommend taking 1 day off per mile raced. But there are recovery runs and runs that don't take a lot out of you that you can do everyday.

Im seeing a cardiologist on the 26th because I damn near blew my heart up. In December. But it is what it is. It becomes a lifestyle. Only time I don't run is when I'm injured which was only a handful of days in 2023 (April right before one of my races had a pinched nerve, chiropractor fixed it), and in December my nerve and my heart flared up after a 2hr run that my heart rate was very high

I'm inspired by this breh here

Any frequent runners/joggers on here? How do you prevent injury ? I still want to maintain muscle so I'll be lifting at least 3 days per week. My plan is to run at least 3 miles each day. I've been doing it everyday for the past week and I feel great. My energy and moods are better. I'm also sleeping better.

I use to be but now sticking to a walking, sprinting and strength training routine (also occasionally swimming)
Less injury prone and more consistent over the long run

Maintaining/building muscle while being primarily a runner is difficult. There is a happy medium tho. Make sure you're eating high protein centered diet with nutrients dense food above your TDEE.

Thing number one: get some real running shoes. Those daily use airmax or low top basketball shoes ain't going to cut it. Go with a running brand like ASICS, brooks, or Hoka

Thing number two: Stretch! Dynamic stretching before, static stretching after. It will help stay away injury and improve performance

Thing number three: Hydrate! And not just before or immediately the run, but throughout the day. You body will need more water with the increase caloric burn of running.

Final thing: Pace Yourself. You're not going to be running sub 20:00 5ks overnight. Listen to your body and start slow.

It's good to see brothers taking an interest in their health. Your heart is the most important organ after your brain and the reason many people in our community die is poor heart health.

Yes. I run everyday. The distance depends on whether I am strength training or not.

Running early in the morning while the streets are empty of cars and people :banderas:

Running into skunks and racc00ns :lupe:
I used to love that but gave it up... Did it for years.

I realized running on sideways or along roads are too dangerous

Cars could veer off and run you over at any second..

Plus one time I had some racist cacs throw a fukkin bottle at me as they drove by. Little plastic bottle of juices hit me square in my back.. I saw them speeding up the road in a pick up waving out the window... my emotions were hurt more than my back. I was so fukkin pissed. I didn't even finish my run I think I walked back from there. Fuming

4-5 miles almost every day.

I run in the winter, but not after it snows.
