Not at all suprising.

A lot of companies that got boosts during the beginning of the pandemic are falling the fukk off. Just poor business. Look at Peloton, Zoom, etc. You knew the booms were temporary. But these companies weren't forward thinking. Need that Peloton bike to come down 50% before I bite.

My company (tech company) stock plummeted after making record profits beginning of the pandemic. Current economic climate (and future) will make things even worse for a lot of these companies that saw crazy increases in such a short span and thought shirt would remain that way.

PS: Some Canadian tech companies have already started layoffs. Imagine making record profits then laying people off a year later. A lot of incompetent people making big money.

shyt I would even cover live cricket and ping pong for my India and Chinese subscriber

No, big media has already got that on lock in all the major cricket countries. Disney's Hotstar service has it for the Indian market, Murdoch's Kayo has got it for Australia, and Comcast's Sky Now owns streaming rights in England. Every other country that plays cricket is basically too economically insignificant for a streaming company to make a profit from buying their streaming rights, their streams are normally put up on YouTube for free georestricted to viewers living those countries. If you're in India or Australia or England, the three big and wealthy markets for the sport, Disney/Murdoch/Comcast have a monopoly over streaming rights for cricket games, wherever they might be in the world.

And it isn't just cricket. The only other genuinely big international sport in the world, football, is also ruled by big media corporations.

Netflix has no chance to break into sports streaming. Only Amazon can do it because Prime doesn't even matter to them, they run Prime streaming at a loss because its primary objective is to advertise for Amazon. Prime exists in order to encourage people to shop from Amazon. It doesn't play by the usual rules everyone else needs to since to be a profitable streaming company is not its objective.

So I can see Prime breaking into sports streaming in a major way. But Netflix is done out here

And you end up watching it in like 720p on a computer screen.

It’s not that expensive for a large section of people and finding it on some illegal website means you’re etching on a computer whilst a large amount of people are watching it on TV in Dolby Vision and Atmos

I LIVE IN A CARDBOARD BOX!
At least blockbuster went down trying and with dignity. These mfrs going out sad :heh:
Netflix released that documentary on Blockbuster last year where it bragged & bolstered about how Blockbuster turned them down at one point. Here we are, a year later, and look at what's happened. :wow: Netflix’s death spiral is the most entertaining thing that they’ve produced in years.

The constant price increases and complaining about password sharing was bound to hurt them eventually. There are so many ways around it that they can't stop. I pay for the top tier and thats just cuz my mom and her friend use the account. Plus I get Disney+ and Hulu thru my boy and Peacock comes with Comcast so it evens out. But if not I would easily use other methods.

For convenience purposes, like interface and ease of access, can easily get a cheap subscription on Reddit. Even cheaper if its not under your own account but better if it is.

Even cheaper and cheapest of all, but not having convenience of netflix interface is kodi. I use it on a firestick. Disable unknown sources in settings, install downloader app. Type in web browser kodi.tv and when site opens scroll down to download and get android version and 32 bit one, 64 bit doesn't seem to work, at least for me. Install kodi and use a custom build which makes it easier. I use Diggz Xenon but there are others. Can easily find installation instructions online. The addon I use for watching is The Oath. I go to Trakt.tv on a browser, create an account, then on The Oath in settings I link it on there. Then on the web browser I can search for shows or movies and add it to my watchlist. Anything from current stuff to classics. I was watching the new spiderman movie on there recently. Can add any show or movie you like and watch at your convenience. Hopefully they have an available stream for it. And thats not all. Not on Kodi but live tv can be used as well.

Back on downloader app, hit up google.com and search for Ola Tv. Go thru installation process. Its questionable at times but its free so worth it. Get all necessary apps. Open Ola and search thru the channels. Lot of international stuff on there as well. Channels constantly changing so gotta be on top of things and keep an ear to the streets. Reddit has an ola tv sub I usually check out to see what channels people are currently using. One I use these days is 1279. Like recently I upgraded my modem/router and my comcast plan to 1GB. Some of my tvs like one in my bedroom don't have a cable box, I send my shyt back. Xfinity Streaming app was fukking up for a while but its back now. Anyways, Ola came thru on monday night when I wanted to see Better Call Saul. Went to channel 1279, went down to US entertainment and selected AMC and was able to watch the encore episode late Monday night. Definitely a good app for cable cutting and just having internet. Best thing I like about it is the 24/7 capabilities, at least when they wanna work. It plays certain shows and movies on a loop constantly. Some channels have more stuff than others but a lot of them have stopped working so its a constant grind if wanting to seek new content. But one I use 1279 has some decent stuff. My latest comfort show to watch is Brooklyn Nine Nine. Put that on late night when I go to bed and set the sleep timer on tv and just fall asleep watching some episodes. Good for kids also with cartoons like Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig on there. They can sit there for hours watching and being entertained.

So many different ways to watch content these days that the price of Netflix isn't always worth it and they gonna continue losing subscribers if more and more people find other ways to watch or get tired of them in general.

I only sub when Chappelle drop something.

They need to sell an a la carte special let you watch the same 10 things for the month at a lower price.
