That's not quite the same though, they're simply trying to get DayZ to run like Arma does in offline mode, not significantly bump up performance overall. And frame-rate improvement is a far cry from post processing cloud computing, which is probably 10-20 years away.

basically the scope of the game is too big to be handled by one computer. but isn't that what everyone claims they want from 'next gen games"? they want better AI, more players, large persistent open worlds, etc, and not just 'better graphics'

Your entire point is that the more powerful system (PC), won't somehow have better looking games, do you realize how dumb that sounds?

Wow. There's not getting through to you is there?

Developing for a PC is a completely different process. All PC's that run windows have one way to develop for them pretty much. All of these consoles have their own API's and own platforms with their own intricacies and quirks. It's not push button development. Stop leaning on the x86 architecture similarity.

Are you going to tell me next that developing for the Mac is like developing for a PC because they are both x86?

The Xbox 360 and PS3 were two entirely different architectures, while PowerPC based the 360 was much closer to a PC than the PS3 was and easier to develop for which is why the multiplat games looked better.

Yet again, these are two similar architectures, x86 + GPU, they are PCs for all intents and purposes, one is more powerful than the other. They can code to the lowest common denominator and just like PCs, the more powerful one will look better. This is all that needs to be said. Don't know why people have problems grasping this :wtf:

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?

These dudes are only talking about graphics when they're bringing up cloud compute though, they're basically implying that there will be some massive graphics bump. It's just corny to see them keep posting these links without really knowing what it will affect.

I'd take better AI & persistent worlds (wars especially), which is why we're in the PC Gaming thread :salute:

Oh, so API's matter now? But what about those 3 operating systems in the background being resources hogs on the One :mjpls: The same reason PC gamers hated Vista, resource hungry operating system devouring ram, yeah that won't impact the console in anyway.

You're literally trying to argue that the more powerful system won't look better, this is hilarious :russ:

The specs will mater even less this gen. With cloud computing the power of the consoles will only be limited by Internet connections.

:usure: care to elaborate and refute these points made by eurogamer?

But perhaps the most curious thing about the Xbox One reveal was the manner in which Microsoft's engineers - and Turn 10's Dan Greenawalt - referred to both "transistors in the box", and "transistors in the cloud", the inference being that Xbox One could evolve by offloading mathematical computations from the local hardware to the ginormous servers Microsoft is prepping for the new system's launch. There was talk of new worlds being generated in the cloud, and less latency-specific systems like physics and AI being processed outside of the console. It's true that this is an exciting prospect in terms of creating massively multiplayer open worlds where "next-gen" dedicated servers will be required to keep track of everything that's going on and feed that out to the gamers.

However, even the 20-30ms latency we tend to see on the raw exchange of data over the internet is an absolute lifetime in terms of rendering games locally plus of course there's the fact that any game embracing this won't work unless your internet connection is always on.We're certainly curious about how this particular facet of Xbox One gaming will evolve in the long term, but we weren't particularly convinced by the ideas set out by the panel - many which came across somewhat as wishful thinking thrown out there with no real exploration or real-life applications.

It won't. Because for that to be the case they'd have to create the game with the highest possible assets, code particle generators and shading that will chew up resources and then dumb it all down for the XBOX One. which is exactly the opposite of developing on the lowest common denominator.

Consoles are NOT PC's. The dev process is not the same. They don't develop from the top and work their way down like they do in the PC world. They develop from the bottom.

99% of the nikkas in this thread have never even opened an IDE in their life...never mind actually coded anything. So it's kind of like arguing with a bunch of circus animals.

@Ayo, I'd hate to see you build a PC, shyt would probably have a GTX 460, Pentium 4 and 3gb of ram, you'd be telling everyone that would listen that the games look the same as someone with a Titan.

It's a different development process in the PC world. They have a bleeding edge mindset when they develop.

It's not the same for consoles. Everyone has the same specs on their particular platform.

Unfortunately the lowest common denominator gets all of the love.

The fukk are you talking about, outside of Crytek PC developers do in fact code from the bottom up. When they develop with the high end user in mind, we get games like Crysis, which will still cripple PCs to this day.

Consoles are more like PCs now than ever, you have some of the worst arguments I have seen on here.
