:what: I said the power will be limited by Internet connections.

Good point. :ld:

Let me bring another one up though. So essentially cloud computing at current would not be an enjoyable way to play perhaps even unplayble at the worst not implemented. Would it be fair to say that then until that infrastructure is mature enough specs will matter

Oh, so now it's a "Fact" that they will develop on Xbox One, no dumbass they will develop for whichever has the higher userbase.

And PS4 mutliplat games will look better, only a moron would think otherwise, which explains why you're saying they won't.

Why are you mad though?

Oh ya it's because you have no clue what you're talking about :pachaha:

Especially when you think developing a game is like putting together a PowerPoint presentation. Talking about "changing settings". And then you throw it out there that the games will run smoother because more power. Like it's Adobe Photoshop or something.

My point was that unless developers specifically target the PS4's advantages...the extra horsepower is not going to help. PERIOD. The reason PC games scale to look better on higher end PC's is because developers develop with the higher end in mine. And downsample everything for lower equipped PCs. It doesn't work like that in console land.

I really don't understand how anyone who paid attention to this generation and knows anything about basic PC setups for gaming can claim games won't at the very least perform better on the more powerful console...It's like not factoring in 0-60 time in a drag race...Just because two cars can hit the same mph doesn't mean they're equal...If car A can go 0-60 in 8 seconds faster than car B obviously car A is going to win...Same applies to these consoles, they'll be coded to the lowedt common denominator but that doesn't mean the PS4 at the very least won't have a better framerate like every multiplat game did for the 360 this gen...Quite a few 360 games also had better texture work so the idea we won't see the same happening again this gen is asinine...

Ya. I get what you're saying.

But if the PS4 can handle shading and textures better. You're not going to see better shading and textures if the devs don't put them in there for the PS4.

So the point I was trying to get across is that if everything is developed on the One and just ported as is. Regardless of how much more power the PS4 has...you'll never see it.

The PC dev process is different. They develop with higher settings in mind and scale down for lower end users. Because there are so many different pc configs out there. Not the same with consoles.

That's all. Then nikkas started shouting out names :snoop:

Our textures will be so pretty on that ps4, ported or not. Sony shooting for every game being the definitive version. :whoo: Thats my console.

:wow: You are truly dumb, Courtdog must be somewhere smiling like a proud dad watching his only son that made it. I didn't say "Changing settings" I said "Limiting effects" which still holds true, but hey you gotta spin it somehow right?

They don't need to target it, just like my PC isn't targeted when games are developed for PS3/Xbox, yet through sheer brute force and horsepower it throws larger textures on screen at a higher framerate because it's more powerful :ohhh:

If Sony gives extra support and incentives to devs (usually only happens to exclusives) than ya, I can see it being the platform of choice.

But the tradition is it's the lowest common denominator of the gen.

Why did xbox 1 games look better than ps2 games when they were ps2 ports?:mj:

The Yay
Now how does this play into the PS4 and X1? Unless they have some other trick up their sleeves, the cpu normally sends the triangle (polygons) to the gpu. The gpu is only going to be as good as the cpu sending its geometry data to it. Its all about balance. When building a pc its better to have too much cpu vs to little cpu and overly powerful gpu. Because the gpu will just be waiting on the cpu to catch up.
eh nah. this concept applies better to cpu/gpu and their RAM.

but the thing is, GPU is still the heavyweight here. middle class CPU+top of the line GPU will always be >>>> top of the line CPU and middle class GPU in video game performance :manny:

there are exceptions of course, but most of them just means that game devs managed resources in a shytty way.

Holy shyt. You ARE an idiot. Do you think those textures are magically created by your PC? :russ:

No. The PC Devs do.

They're created as image files you fukking dumbass. If they are created at a certain res...you think your PC is going to magically turn them into a higher res? You remind me of the idiots who want wallet size photos blown up into posters.

PC Devs will create 5 different versions of one texture. One that will work efficiently for each different setting. (Vector art is different)

Console devs don't need to do that. They will create one texture size that will run efficiently on the console. It's one setting. PERIOD.
Please STFU nikka. *

Well the specs don't start to matter until late in the console cycle, and by that time Internet connections should be better, so cloud performace will be better. It wil be interesting to see how things evolve.

In reality specs have NEVER mattered. The most powerful system hasnt won a generation in a long time. The systems are close enough in power and architecture that any differences in performance will be marginal, and will only matter in fanboy wars. The rest of the world won't care or even notice.
