Gaikai is for Backwards compatibility, not mandatory to play PS4 games. HUGE difference.

You also don't need to check in to PSN once a day to play your games offline if you choose. HUGE difference.

Ain't no one trying to hear that here. According to the posters in this thread (Malta) porting happens with a push of a button and a few tweaks of settings. Since they are both x86 architecture it's as easy as pie ...



Of course these are people that have not sat in front of 2 lines of code. Never mind 5 million.

Middleware takes care of most of the porting process. On top of BOTH consoles using the same Jaguar APU platform it will be easier.

Your quoted example is using x86 and presumably Direct X to go to OpenGL and ARM instructions, of course it isn't gonna be easy.

I have that GFX card in my cpu right now. While it's very powerful, they are cards out now that are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better. So imagine in 6 years? :tellmemore:

PS4 is already outmuscled by PC on a technical basis. PC is the most powerful GIVEN you have enough money to spend getting the parts. Where PS4 has an advantage is that it's a closed platform, so developers can get a lot more out of it due to efficiency and knowing that every user will have the same hardware. It would be hard to imagine games like The Last of Us on PS3 hardware when it first came out, but when you have 1st party developers who are intimate with a closed platform, they can really bring out phenomenal results.

To check in every day in order to play? even offline? It's pretty safe to say HELL NO.

I am interested in how they will do used games though. I thought the online pass was a decent compromise, but EA/MS threw that in the bushes for a more greedy alternative. I'm still at how EA made MS take the fall and backlash for fukking over the used game industry and gamers with that shyt.

Don't fall for that bullshyt "cloud processing" foolishness. It's a codeword they hyping up for banning used games. MS is implementing a glorified online DRM solution and of course EA loves it. That's all that shyt is.

What does a console mean?

A console TO ME, should be the go to device where i play games and only games. Not this ONE platform for everything bullshhh XBOXONE is going for. No man idgaf about skype, tv switching, blah blah blah. I want the company im buying my console from to share the same vision as me. Sony looking like it's doing that with its focus on gamers, exclusives, and less fluff like entertainment bullshhh.

XBOXONE is for casual COD, Madden fifa crowd ok. ye they have some exclusives (that are aged as fk), so show me those 15 AAA exclusives you promised and i might reconsider.

But till then its PS4 for me.
