How can you say skipped events when literally the institution of chattle slavery was a definitive event in AA history? Without that event we would not be having this discussion because people would be using their PRE SLAVERY Ethnic definitions.
What the heck are you talking about? Learn how ethnic groups are formed. No duh. Chattel(its not spelled chattle) slavery. But the fact is African-American history is MORE than just that and during that time(again), the AA ethnicity did not even form yet. But also the fact that we are arguing IF those "Freed Colors" were descendants of slaves is another point.

More importantly, the Freed Colors skipped most of the Reconstruction era, Jim Crows, Black Codes, the Civil Rights movement, etc. I'm about to read a book(haven't gotten to reading it yet) called Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome where the author addresses the many trumatic events that AAs went through, in NOT JUST slavery but also Jim Crow and after. Those Freed Colors did not go through that. Its highly doubtful they even carried this trauma.

Did people who died before the time you want to piggy back on “skip out” on events too?
What the heck are you talking about? We're talking about a collective group. And not individuals.

This is laughable at this point and disrespectful.

Its only laughable and disrespectful in your limited brain.

Your insecurities are showing.
:russ:

But I wont take this thread in that direction.

You literally tag people in this thread to have a discussion on a subject non of these people even make claims on.

You can use the “that dont make sense” stuff but anyone with sense can see your emotional fueled motivations.

:lolbron:

At this point just place me on ignore since you lack the discipline to keep your emotions in check.

That's black/aa culture. A mixture of all after those in the south all got free and were able to mix and mingle. Again After.

This is about who went to Liberia.

black yankess(northern free people of color) were around at the time of the people who left to liberia. Black Yankees were the ones who were against it.

African America’s First Protest Meeting: Black Philadelphians Reject the American Colonization Society Plans for Their Resettlem

The January 1817 gathering of African American men became more than the first African American protest meeting on U.S. soil. It is an early example of what a people can accomplish when they are so united, determined, and fearless that they are willing to challenge their adversaries and their own traditional leadership. In one loud voice the black men of 1817 foiled a slaveholder scheme supported by a semi-government organization to exile them from their homeland, the land of their birth. Their unanimous vote also sent a clear message to their own leaders that they stood resolutely with their loved ones still in chains, not the slaveholders.

These black Philadelphians of 1817 also publicly declared their claim on the United States. As far as they were concerned this was their land as well. They recalled that many of their kinsmen where among the 6,800 men who had fought and died in its Revolution on the Patriot side and an even larger number had been killed fighting with the British. Those black men on each side fought not for independence or the continuation of empire but for the principle of freedom in the abstract and as importantly for their own physical liberation.

My insecurities are showing? Really? That's funny... I'm not the confused Liberian here. Yeah, I went there. I'm not the one making corny troll posts around this site just because a certain group says they want to focus on themselves.

Insecurity my ass. I descend from TWO ELITE people in the diaspora. Get that through your thick skull before you talk about "insecurities." lol.

But I wont take this thread in that direction.
Go ahead.

You literally tag people in this thread to have a discussion on a subject non of these people even make claims on.
Once again I tagged you because YOU'RE Liberian and maybe you would offer a different viewpoint. But no you spammed this thread with estrogen filled posts and semantics.

And................ No counters to my points.

At this point just place me on ignore since you lack the discipline to keep your emotions in check.

And............. No counters to my points. You're dismissed.

Right.

Cause MOST Black Americans were enslaved and in the South -- they didn't even hear about Liberia or the proposal to send Black people to Liberia -- or know about it cause they were enslaved.

Those who did hear about it - it was after 1865 and those who left the South. Even them -- they also let them know - they weren't interested in leaving their families and the US.

I’ve literally made my points in which the literally OP has dapped them and none of my points can be refuted so once again what is there to debate.

“Thick skull”

We all can see you are a conflicted and emotional child lol luckily you will probably grow out of this phase in your life.
:mjlol:

Lets see if you have the discipline to actually be done versus more emotional rambling about nothing under the guise of scholarship.

The fact of the matter is you can call yourself whatever you want the point stands is there were people who were descendants of slaves from america who went to Liberian and Sirerra leone.

This can not be refuted.

Nobody has ever made the statement that Americo Liberians are AAs, it doesnt even make sense logically.

So once again what are people even trying to argue?

actually, they do. Most people never bring up the fact that their were West Indian rooted Americo-Liberians, much less, the native african based, Americo-Liberians.

You confuse emotional for egotistical and arrogance.

I already won the argument. You didn't even bother to address my key points. My argument still stands.

Like I said before Americo Liberians are a ethnic group with ancestry of free blacks and former slaves from the new world.

What people do in casual convo when it comes to mispeaking is irrelevant and if you arent going to correct them when you speak to them thats on you.

If you are saying there are authoritative figures making a claim then thats another story but even then saying that AAs and Americos may have a common ancestor is one thing, saying AAs = Americo Liberians (which the title of the thread is even with it incorrectly saying “American Liberian” which is not a real term) is a totally different thing.
