Norway
The unemployment rate for foreign-born Norwegians is 9.2 percent, compared to a figure of 2.1 percent for the general population.

America
Unemployment among foreign born workers in May 2012 was 7.4 percent, while for native-born workers it was 8.0.

Again which country is friendlier to non natives? You guys just dont want to accept the facts. Im bringing data to the argument. Some of you just cant accept that Norway does not treat everyone the same like you fictionally believe the progressive societies are portrayed to be. Based on the numbers you are much more likely to be unemployed in Norway if you are foreign. In America you are stand the same chance to make something of yourself as anyone else. This is the critical test of what makes a country great IMO.

Finland has repeatedly been touted as the best country. I wouldn't say I necessarily agree seeing as how I've never lived in Finland, but when you consider things like education and whatnot, it's better than America. Every teacher there has a Master's. Crazy.

When I judge (in my mind) whether a country is great or not I think about things like that, the unemployment rate, health services, etc. The fact remains that America falls low on lists like that, but we're raised to be patriotic so we'll largely ignore it.

We're among the worst when it comes to preventative medicine, our school system sucks as a whole, and an average GDP per capita. Plus we're the home of things like this:

But even with all of this, idk if there's another place I'd rather leave. I just don't know. You can thrive here... it's just more likely you'll barely get by.

This thing with that picture is that that American train was the shyt when it was first constructed. Made the rest of the world look :flabbynsick:. Other countries got better shyt cause they finally caught up at a time when better technology was available. Eventually we'll re-vamp our infrastructure and that picture will be reversed. Its all cyclical.

If there are crickets, it's because we're all shocked at your ignorance, you're inability to use numerical data effectively and complete confidence in your ignorance.

Socialist governments like Norway sound good until they cant pay for all of those luxuries. Look at Europe right now, its a total economic mess.

The only countries that are in a mess are the one who trusted their private banks with pensions and the like.

Germany, England, France, Scandinavian Countries, and Denmark are doing just fine.

beat me to it

Norway is not really an open society. Not all Scandinavian countries are the same, and even taking that into consideration, Norway is easily the odd man out. It's not entirely accurate to use it as an example of the Scandinavian models praised by American progressives.

My thoughts of America are pretty well known at this point.

Anyways America is a pretty amazing country to live in if you're wealthy.
I've lived in a few countries, traveled quite a bit, and despite my dismay at politics and policy America is one of the best functioning countries I've seen.

A lot of you have no idea how lucky you are and I'm not talking about third world disparity.

Also throw in the fact that America, outside of the infrastructure, is a very innovative place. Always has been. We're highly influential to the rest of the world. New forms of music, art, film, tech/internet, the automobile, etc. We don't invent, create, manufacture as much as we use too but a ton of shyt started here in the US. Not to mention that if you have an idea that can generate money, it can come into fruition in America. No religion can stop or halt you or any company like it does in other countries.
