No such thing...there are positives and negatives to all states depending on your own heritage and background

But as a Man in America with black skin and African ancestors, I refuse to believe we were the "greatest" at any time

Just the scariest. :merchant:

So all those years prior to the Civil War, we were so scary that they had to wrap us in chains and do their work? :childplease:

If they had opportunities they would have a higher migrant rate than 1% dude. Thats why migrants come to America, for opportunities. Simple concept friend. Norway is the size of england but with 1/15th of the population. Why is that? Either A: they are openly racist/xenophobic, or B: their economic model is not sustainable for a larger population. So how are they the greatest country again?

Yall want to talk about exclusiveness in America in regards to the 1%, but Norway is more exclusive than America by far. There are more people here doing well/ok, than there are people in Norway.

The number of immigrants in Norway is approximately 550,000. The total "immigrant population", which includes Norwegian-born children to immigrant parents, is 655,170, corresponding to 13.1 percent of the total population (2011).

Immigrants and people born to immigrant parents in Norway are 13.2% of the population. That's up from like 3 or 4% in the early 90s. So if anything, the trend shows that more people are immigrating to Norway than there were before.

...the US protects Finland and Norway from who? :weirdo:

How the fukk do you know that? You've never been in either country. :ld:

Strategically speaking, the Russian Navy in the Barents Sea.

Look at the census dude. Its only natives that live there, unlike the UK, France, even Germany.

And why is that? You think that might have something to do with the UK having an aggression immigration policy because of their aging population so they need a work force? You think that might because France colonized all over Africa and immigrants immigrate to France from all those French speaking countries? That France still economically controls many of those countries and has those ties?

But what do those numbers even show? The UK has a population of 62 million to about 5 million for Norway. What do you want them to bring in 4 million immigrants? :snoop:

Come on dude, Russia hasn't been a threat to Finland since the Cold War, and realistically it wasn't a threat then either. NATO isn't protecting these countries anymore.

The five largest immigrant groups in Norway are in turn Polish, Swedish, Pakistani, Somali and Iraqi.[2].

Yea dude, 2%. :ld:

I don't even know why you are going on about countries like Norway - Northern Europe is as progressive as it comes. :manny:

the US has over 80,000 troops in bases all over europe. Thats basically the equivalent number of troops we have in war torn Afghanistan. But yeah we dont have any presence in NATO countries. It doesnt affect these countries defense spending. :youngsabo:

Um, what do you think you're proving? But here's numbers.

Immigrants and those born to immigrant parents:

From Europe: 320, 000
From Africa: 80,000
From Asia: 220,000
South America: 20,000

The majority of those Europeans are from countries right next to Norway. Imagine that :aicmon:

By the way that equals 50% European. Good try though. :smugfavre:

I never argued that they arent the most progressive. I just dont equate that with meaning they are the greatest countries on earth. I equate greatness with overall impact. The US impacts are far greater number of people with opportunity in a way that a country like Norway ever will.

Your argument (if you call it that) makes no sense. It's not backed up by numbers and is based on some mystical premise of "this is the only place this can happen." Then, when you're shown that it can happen other places, you made up false numbers to try to show that supposedly that shows that many don't perceive it that way globally. As if perception equals reality. That was bad enough by itself. But then, you fell back on the fact that Norway is small and the lifestyle it provides is irrelevant because it's so small. Well, no one said the US can do it there way. The point was that your original argument was false. Now you're holding on this term of "overall impact." A lot of nations have large-scale impact. Does that Saudia Arabia or Russia the greatest nations on Earth? They certainly have more influence than Norway.

Being patriotic and being realistic are two different things. We have the greatest potential on Earth. We have to choose whether or not we want to capitalize on it.

America is one of a handful countries in the world where any person born into poverty has the ability to become successful just off of the strength of his abilities, ideas, and drive. If you arent a success you can blame yourself. Thats what makes America the greatest country. Even Europe is not inclusive when it comes to immigration. Your ass will stay in the ghettos.
