KILL BILL Actress Lucy Liu Spotted On The Set Of LUKE CAGE Season 2 As Luke & Claire Lock Lips In New Pics

As shooting continues for the show's second season, the actress was spotted on the New York set and then later photographed out getting coffee (easy now) with Power Man himself, Mike Colter. Though it is possible Liu has signed on for a role, we also have a set video which would seem to suggest that she's actually directing an episode.

In addition, we have some recent set snaps of Cage and Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) getting cozy during another scene.

Luke Cage Casts Two in Marvel Comics Roles For Season 2

Mustafa Shakir and Gabrielle Dennis have joined the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage in roles that may be familiar to Marvel Comics readers.

Shakir (The Deuce, The Night Of) will play John McIver, described by Marvel Television and Netflix as “a natural leader, brimming with charisma, whose mission is focused on Harlem and vengeance,” while Dennis (Insecure, Rosewood) will appear as Tilda Johnson, “a brilliant, holistic doctor with a complicated history in Harlem where, as much as she tries to stay far from trouble, it seems to always find her.”

“Mustafa’s incredible presence and power ignited us from our first meeting, and Gabrielle brings the charm and smarts to a very complicated role,” executive producer Jeph Loeb said in a statement. “Both will be wonderful additions to our already magnificent cast.”

Introduced in 1977 in Iron Fist #15, John McIver is perhaps better known as Bushmaster, a street criminal turned crime boss whose body was transformed into “unliving metal” during a fight with Luke Cage. That eventually led to his death, at which time his younger brother Quincy assumed the identity of Bushmaster.

Tilda Johnson, known over the years as Nightshade, Deadly Nightshade and Nighthawk, debuted in 1973’s Captain America #164. She parlayed her natural aptitude for science into a life of crime, during which she utilizes high-tech armor and weaponry, as well as pheromones that permit her to command certain animals.

Interestingly, following the release of the first trailer for Black Panther last month, actress/singer Nabiyah Be announced she’s playing Tilda Johnson in the film.

Shakir and Dennis join returning cast members Mike Colter as Luke Cage, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard and Theo Rossi as Shades.

The 13-episode second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage premieres in 2018 on Netflix.

Luke Cage: Lucy Liu Will Direct Season 2 Premiere

The mystery of actress Lucy Liu’s appearance last month on the New York City set of Marvel’s Luke Cage has been solved: The Elementary star is directing the Season 2 premiere of the Netflix drama.

“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters,” Liu said in a statement published by BuzzFeed. “It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”
