But where are the roots of dancehall fromowe dancehall music
wrong on all counts.. nothing militant about my post. "afrobeat being summer white girl music" is a dead ass giveaway that you don't interact with people outside the internet. Ed Sheeran running anyones summer is tragic
When I see the word "Afrobeat", I immediately think of Fela Kuti type music.
Anyway thanks to Nigerians for bringing Afrobeat to the world outside Africa.
It has been a great last year for Afrobeat my only pet peeve is that in America, they always play the same records over and over again (i.e Davido - Fall, Davido - If, Wizkid - SOCO, Wizkid feat. Drake - Come Closer, these records are almost two years old) when there is so much more out there including records that sound nothing like dance hall or caribbean type records and are the best records out. Then again I believe some of the success attributed to those records is because of the Caribbean vibe but I do think records that do sound "authentically African" are better.
The guy right now who is on fire is Burna Boy and he performed at Coachella just hope he can cross over like his other counterparts:

If I'm looking for an Afrobeats song with a R&B feel that should be #1, then I'll have to go with this:
The hip hop stations in New York play "Fall" like 3 times an hour
