ph said it, but I have a purpose that I'm saving for so it isn't indefinite for me, there is something that I'm aiming to do

Me too that’s why I don’t want to put everything in a bunch of investments but I do want to do a portion so I invested in some long term stocks and going to prob play with 40-50k in day trading once I get the hang of it just to bring in extra money

Took a look at my how much my company is getting paid for my contract. I don't understand all the fields yet, but a ceiling of $653k, and like $180k per year...3 years total. Definitely not making that much and really going to see how I can be a contractor and get bids on my own. shyt, pay me $150k a year and we can eliminate the entire company. :camby:

That's the same thing with me. My team is paying over double my salary to my organization. Split the difference, give me my money, save yourself some money :why:. Even at that price I'm cheaper than everyone you have on your team permanently.

Wow! that's crazy. I work in the contracting office, so I have a wealth of information on where to bid on contracts, now i just need to research how to start up the business. My contract is for 3 years and by the 2nd year I hope to be close or ready to move out on my own.

I'm basically an internal contractor at the company, so teams bring us on when they need work. So that difference goes to my org and that's how they make up their budget for the year. Overall it just costs the company more money though .

Ok, so you don't have middle man per say, but other departments have to pay the org you work in when they need your services? Are you paid via 1099? I'm assuming this isn't salary.

No it's W-2. We're salaried employees of the company. Our org is, for all intents and purposes, an internal contacting service. So when money changes hands it all stays in the company. We just charge our time to the project we're working on for the team, then when accounting does it's thing my pay comes from the project budget. If the project gets cancelled I'm still an employee, I just get sent to work on a new project in the company.

The overhead comes from paying our managers since they aren't actually doing work in teams. So that cost difference I spoke of, that goes to our bosses (and their bosses) to keep everything funded.
