Man like 70% of my reasoning for watching The 11th Hour with Brian Williams is to hear him sign off for the night.

" And that's our broadcast for the night. Thank you so much from everyone here at NBC New York, goodnight."

All the while they've faded in the music

:wow:. For got a breh feeling like," " You got damn right :salute::salute::salute:."

My mother always tries to throw shade at me (unintentionally probably though) when I talk about my career. I'm back in a support role but it is high level Hadoop and customer facing operations. Much of my discussions with my manager now are coaching sessions and open discussions.

I told my mother that in my last Engineering role at Oracle when I had a conversation with my boss it was always negative. I sort of get nervous in my current role with those discussions even though my boss hasn't given me any sort of negative remarks or reasoning. I'm just used to it from my last boss.

She started asking me if I had any concern about it. Clearly wasn't listening. Then she later set when I'm settled I should get a degree, which if you know my history here I have discussed that a few times since my father died and it's something that he wanted because he believed in me.

Anyways I know I get defensive about it because it sort of undermines and dismisses my accomplishments. I was making almost half of what I was making over two years ago and now I'm in the six figures range because of my hard work. I know people with Master's and who are professors who make less than me. Not to gloat, but tech is a hard career and you can't get there being half ass. I just wish she would recognize that more I guess.

I just don't think at this time right now I'm willing to take on the debt of college right now amongst other things. I have to be strategic about it. My work will pay for some eventually as well.

How is it breh. Let us live vicariously through you :wow:
Crazy, not able to spend this shyt if I tried. Went from having no money hardly ever a month ago to having all my bills paid, 500 in my pocket, and 3,000 in my accounts.

Craziest part is that I don't have any crazy purchases to make or any outlandish things I want to buy. I do however want to ascend. I've hit all my 2018 career goals and it's only two months in. Now I gotta it up a notch. Need to sit down this weekend and map out some new goals and plans to have something to target.

Man... I'm legit happy for you right now breh.. and I don't even know you like that.. I just know the feeling of seeing your goals seem so distant, but once your get there and look back at the path taken... what used to be a mountain is now just an ant hill and you now gotta search for another mountain to turn to another ant hill cause you'll just remain unchallenged and bored.. best of luck in all your future endeavors breh.. I love when my people do well :wow:

I was thinking some things over, financial goals and such. My current salary doesn't even get me within a shout of them :franchit:. As much as I don't want to start job hopping I think I'm going to have to in 2 years. The pay structure at this company doesn't make sticking around very attractive...

I think in April I'll begin making moves in the stock market. I'll have to start dedicating some time daily/weekly to research, or maybe even see if I can sneak in some CNBC viewing time at work.

Not sure what cert i'm going for next - either PgMP, MCSA or CISSP-ISSEP... I'm leaning heavily towards MCSA - it's something I always wanted to pursue, but always had other things come up.

It seems like I haven't done much this year but I realize that sometimes just the behind the scenes stuff is just as important. Sometimes just being stable and steady is good enough. Atleast I've been steady with my job and finances. I've been able to save like 2k in my down payment account. About half was from the tax refund but I'm at my highest I've ever been with that account and the interest rate is at its highest so I just gotta keep building it up towards my goal.

I had set a goal of passing 65k total value that Mint shows on my account by memorial day. Thanks to the profit sharing company match from my last job, and the investments coming back up on that account, I passed that goal. Gotta set a few more. Plus my vacation savings account I started this year is up to $700. Got a few things I'm hoping to plan for the summer, Christmas, and next year. Not including random trips to Orlando like this coming weekend cuz that's just like a one night hotel stay and not no major expense. I have been cutting back on excess spending and eating out at work so my money had been stretching longer. Plus my credit card debt is usually below $100. It's hard to raise my score these days but I think once some inquiries come off my report in September, then it'll improvea little bit. Not overly worried about it.

Last year was all about paying off my debt like my car, and getting a better job. This year gonna be about straight stacking and bring smarter with the finances. Building myself up. Not planning any major purchases. Only thing I want and need is new glasses since mine are old. Hopefully this month or next. I do need a computer monitor cuz using a 55 inch tv hanging on the wall, isn't helpful. I think I'm gonna wait on buying a new phone until atleast mid June. And look for sales too.

Just gotta stay the course and not get sidetracked. Been doing these survey things online and have made $60 in less than a month. Not major money but stilla little something, I could use that for gas money each month. Every bit helps when you trying to achieve some goals.

Just when I thought about giving up I got a couple of decent leads. I been looking for that first ME gig and I have been struggling maine. But I think I'm gonna try my hand at programming and even branch out into Information Technology. I have a small amount of knowledge in it and I believe that I'll do well. I don't know if going back to school is worth it at all.
