I’m about 3 apps in and kinda tired of building apps. It’s great to deliver something visually appealing but when the data is a hot mess, the app ain’t shyt but some pretty hot mess.

I signed up for a program and was paired with a mentor that leads a team I’m building an app for. Trying to get on the other side of the data to at least understand why it’s trash. I speak with her next week.

The Indian dude finally started and we have a meeting Monday to go over the Qlik environment. I was told it would be a team of Indians, but so far it appears to be one. I still feel I’ll be let go eventually (Finance director is Indian and these are his people literally), so just trying to prepare best way I can.

I’ve been using my Jira and logging work regularly. Basically CYA behavior.

always be looking for your next opportunity. How many months in are you at the company?

4 at the end of this month. I have a ton on my plate right now, but around June I'll have more bandwidth to explore new/additional opportunities. In the meantime, I'm going to focus on getting this Qlik Data architect cert before summer hits. I failed the first attempt last year, but I have a better study plan now. I also want to do some networking at the company which is why I signed up for the mentorship thing and there is a woman's panel at the end of the month.

The job/company itself isn't bad, but I don't like how they are operating as far as these dashboards and data goes. Instead of simple dashboards that people actually want, they want to build in shyt like writing out to the data source (I vented about this already). It's mad apps using the same sets of data the only thing different is a where clause or date limits.

There's software for that. Also, how were they tracking it before?

Well they didn't have software to officially track, but a few of the sales reps were not doing their jobs and were basically on the clock and not making calls or were using another phone to "pretend" they were calling customers/clients.

-Based on the names of those attending meeting this morning, it's definitely a group of Indians. :skip: My anxiety is on 7000. I need to chill and just listen.

- "This metric isn't showing any data and there should be, please advise". :comeon: Based on the SQL code YOU provided me, there are not records for this metric. You'll have to take that up with the data source, boo.

Indian dudes are contractors. Looks like they will be focused on building out data and I guess apps that are in the pipeline. Still have questions, but feeling less close to being fired :heh:

I've become personally invested in this one project, but I know it will pay off in the long run. It covers all the metrics used to determine company health, so I've been getting some valuable insight into what the company deems important. LOL I can easily determine when to jump ship if those Finance metrics start shifting in the wrong direction.

Bi-monthly pay has really diminished the "anticipation factor" of payday. No more every other Friday excitement, just hoping the next pay falls on a weekend so you can get it day early :pachaha:

Landed another remote job, decided not quit my current one just yet. I feel like I can make it work for another few months since the program year at my current job ends in June. That’ll allow for me to have extra cover during the summer months. Then I’ll politely dip right before Q1 starts :ehh:

i really am a believer of this:

Just wish I made the leap sooner.
