Max out 401k, Roth IRA and regular brokerage investment.

After that, I’d say you want to probably pool you’re money with some like minded folks and maybe look at PE investing or setting up a small VC fund. If you and some folks pool say $500K - $1MM, you could make some decent plays at early stage start ups.

This was the side of investing i thought I'd never reach, but the barriers to it aren't insurmountable.

Joined a family office in Jan 2021. 10 Units, committing $100K each over 10 years. We're focusing on black, brown, & women-led VC fund managers to start out.

So they are finally again approving away days..... looks like we are going France or Scotland in February :francis::deadmanny: what an anti climax i just hope it's France and not Scotland.

I was expecting us to have it in the summer on a positive note this means i can probably move my exit plan forward and dip as soon as early summer.

For my next job i'm definitely going to try to get a job that requires international travelling even if it's just once a year. some people at my job have been eating off away days

these people are like females and cant make their minds up, they sent out a survey asking about people's covid vaccines status and if we would be ok sharing rooms last week and said it would take place early summer time in America now they are saying it probably wont take place until the fall. I cant lie i was kind of looking forward to a trip to america all on company dime before i dip but i guess god has other plans. Either way my plans are still in motion and im counting down the months at this point

What is the point of having everyone vaxxed if we’re still gonna have in person meetings with masks on? :dwillhuh:

Like I was legit in a 12 person conference room meeting and everyone was masked up. But we’re all vaxxed….

But when food comes out everyone takes off their masks to eat….

Isn’t the whole point of having an in person meeting so you can read non-verbal facial expressions?

Man I can’t wait till Cali drops the indoor mask mandate, because tbh stuff ain’t making a lot of sense now.

I was assigned two projects. One working with 75 metrics the company is measuring. A woman receives the data from the metric owner, she inputs the data into a spreadsheet and does a manual process of determining a score.

The second project is working is just two of the metrics. They run SQL code, gives the number to the woman in project one, but also copies into excel to do additional analysis. My manager keeps telling me these projects aren't related and basically move on from one to the other. The second project is with the finance group and I guess they complained their data requests were being ignored, so it's like they are trying to push it through.

Then he's telling me for project 1 I need to find some ways to add value and show them additional insights. Like I literally took a manual process and automated it through Qlik, it's that NOT the value? And I don't know the data, so it'd be pretty impossible for me to know what additional info I could show them. I don't know, but yesterday was strange overall. Kinda gave the vibe I wasn't doing a good job or not performing as excepted. Got me feeling a type of way for sure.

Be a leader and take your mask off first. I used to do that at work and people will immediately follow. Just hang it off one ear...keep "forgetting" to put it on., etc

Just got called back by a recruiter for a job in Downtown...I forgot I had even applied for it but since it's in-person I turned down the interview.

I had an interview yesterday for a Remote job but I think I priced myself out. The company doesn't seem to want to go above $45K and I was asking $52 - $65K.

If they give me $50 I'll take it. It's supplemental income anyway :yeshrug:

Since starting this role I've really upped my SQL skills. A few recruiters have hit more up for some Manager roles with about a $40-$50K pay rise from what I already get now. Tempting but I feel with a few more technical skills under my belt, I could be looking at an even higher pay bump.

I've been hearing a lot about Python but I don't want to get pigeon-holed into D&A long term. The focus is still Biz Dev with a focus on emerging markets (Sub Saharan Africa). This is where more networking does help.

I’m still new to my company (at least in person) so I’m not tryna ruffle any feathers. You already know my region is full of people scared of their own shadow :hubie:

The state is dropping the indoor mask mandate next Wednesday so I can wait a few more days. After that, I'm burning all my masks :lolbron:

Thinking about a career change completely and my friend has piqued my interest with the IT talk.

Has me thinking about getting a certification for PSM (Professional Scrum Master). Does anyone has any experience in this area? Is this a good starting point in the industry?

What exactly are you trying to do or what exactly are you exactly interested in? I actually took the psm a week ago it's easy enough you can self study and just pay for the exam

Yeah I'm doing the same. There was a course on udmey for $109 that I ended up purchasing for $20. I'm running through it now - probably going to do it multiple times - do the assessment a few times on scrum.org before attempting the test.

Really, I'm doing it for the money and freedom. I was doing operations management and shyt ain't been the same since covid.

you dont need to pay for any 3rd party study material reading the scrum guide and their official practise test is enough.

I used this too PSM I™ Preparation Quiz – Learning Mode – Mikhail Lapshin

-I think something is wrong with my co-worker. He hasn't been on slack in a couple of days, then both of my managers cancelled meetings yesterday at the last minute. Not that it means anything, but they all live in TX, not far from one another so my mind immediately goes to emergency. I hope he's ok.

-Still working on my very first assignment :francis:. Every time dude wants or is looking for something different. It's frustrating because the app is showing the correct data, but maybe they haven't done the processing to push to the next stage, or made recent changes and it hasn't reflected in the reloaded data yet. So the convo is about what he's seeing vs what the app is showing. I'm meeting with him today and I'm just ready to drink.

-The second half of this year is looking up financially, I just need to hold on until June.
