Applying for jobs is easy when you have one (recruiters tend to go harder for people already working), either block time or use your lunch for interviews

Gotta be careful with Linkedin sometimes. You'll see a thousand different things of what you "should" be doing, but if you're not grounded in your career path it can feel like you're not doing enough..
It seems like in many ways LinkedIn has become a platform for virtue signaling. At this point I only use it for a rolling resume and job finder.

Yep, I use it to keep abreast with what's in the Fintech/Digital payments space but it can be information overload many times. I'm glad my mentor and I developed a solid plan for how to keep pushing my career forward. It's definitely helped me tune out the noise and only go for what's pertintent.

Yeah this is definitely a company where you need to add “private appointment” to your calendar because they will switch some shyt in a minute.

Meeting changed from 2:30 to 12pm and I had to cancel my plans, nothing major but till. This happened the other day too and I had scramble to find a ride for my daughter. Won’t get me again.

Yeah, that’s usually that shyt I don’t like…but it’s noon a whole other day though :russ:. Mad as shyt for nothing, I just saw the cancellation and the 12 noon.

They did push something back last week and jammed me up so I’ll just stay mad about that. Lol.

A few months ago, I applied for a job. Went through four rounds of interviews. The fourth interview was the final one. Didn't hear anything back from them for about two weeks, then they come back saying I was THE top candidate but they couldn't afford to hire the position. They said they'd open the role back up in a few weeks and reach back out to me about it.

At this point, I figured the job wasn't happening and moved on. They of course never came back. But yesterday I reached out to them, just out of curiosity, and learned that they opened the job back up and hired someone else for it. They said the reason was "culture fit".

I know culture fit can be a legitimate reason but something seems a bit off here. There were no additional interviews/contacts between me being the "top candidate" after my fourth interview and then them rejecting me due to "culture fit." They just completely switched up their story on me. I'm not worried about not getting the position, and wouldn't accept it today if offered...but I am right to think they were on some BS here?

They were likely on some BS tbh. However, culture fit is a thing that should be factored in, both from the employer and employee.

I got a new role in the pandemic and was hired remotely. I just met most of the team last week at an impromptu training lunch and tbh, if I interviewed in person for this role, idk if I’d have taken it.

The team doesn’t really gel with my personality all that much. But obviously I know this role got my foot in the door of this new industry and you gotta take the good with the bad.

I agree with you 100% about culture being important. I know from experience that a lot of what separates jobs I hated from jobs I really enjoyed was the team culture that management builds.

This company though, I think they were just trying to cover up their own incompetency. Like they just completely forgot about me, then when I turned back up, they had to come up with a reason. I don't like their culture either after seeing how they move.

Yeah sounds like cap if you ask me. If they really wanted to hire you they would've made sure to do it. Sounds like you dodged a bullet in the long run, they move on some slimeball ish
