You know what they say about assuming. Lol but nah, I get what you’re saying. The posted salary or range is a good baseline.
My entire professional experience has dealt with developing, designing, and maintaining salary structures and pay programs. This includes the salary ranges you see used for job postings externally and what companies use internally to make pay decisions.

Salary range midpoints are usually anchored to what the role is paying on the open market (could be tied to the median of the market or a higher percentile, also the "market" differs for each company.

Anyway, to get an idea of what I do, you can do a job title search for "compensation" in NYC or any other metro (ignore anything workers comp tho)

Also, here's the job posting I referenced earlier:

Senior Manager, Bonus & Compensation Global - New York, NY 10036 - Indeed.com

How often would you say people are getting above the range?

My company tells us this but they consistently have ranges lower than the local markets, then wonder why turnover is so high :mjlol:

It's rare, and should only happen in extremely special circumstances.
Anyone making above the max is probably performs at a level above what their current role calls for and should've been promoted a long time ago

or the organization evaluated the job incorrectly and it requires a higher pa range, but they wont bump the range higher for various reasons

Some companies realize this but continue to do so as long as it doesnt hurt bottom line or their ability to do business. Or they may just pay a higher market rate for certain roles/functions (engineering, tech related, etc) and pay average for other functions (HR, customer service, etc)

Any company serious about competing for talent in this day and time has a person like me (Compensation) that is focused on building the infrastructure and programs to attract, retain, and motivate the key talent that drives their business. Otherwise they just flopping aimlessly in the wind.

I had a small epiphany a few minutes ago. With how hard black people have to work just to be seen as near the level of everyone else, we're just that much better at this shyt. A legit 8 hour work day output is equivalent to at least 3 days of the majority of your peers. If at any point you feel like you're doing too much, dial that shyt back about halfway.

So they were super impressed at my interview skills (managed to cover bout 30k worth of words and condense it into 10 minutes of a presentation). They liked all of my answers, and the recruiter even said i don't get this job, go for one in government. If anyone wants to read the presentation, DM me and i'll happily send it to you!

Keeping my overhead low, and my understand high
i'm now deadass reporting to the CEO, AEOM...but this feels like no reward, when my manager comes back she's back on top and i'll have been playing in charge for no reason :wtb:

Add her title and responsibilities to your resume. That's what I've always done in those situations...
