I've have this book for a while and still haven't gotten to it :francis:

So far so good. Basically the author mentions that emotional intelligence is the ability to command and control your own emotions as well as the ability to understand other people's emotions.

Goleman posits that the five dimensions of emotional intelligence are self–awareness, self–regulation, motivation, empathy, and relationship management.

In the book resilience is also mentioned. The ability for you to bounce back after adversity in your life or after an event. It takes a scientific take on emotions and how to analyze them which I like. It isn't 'mushy' nor does the author take a position of Stoicism when it comes to emotions.

I wanted to read it to learn how to better deal with personal relationships and colleagues. I also have aspirations in my career to work in more strategic roles which will require some degree of leading others. Definitely read it.

For those of you on the fence about investing or inconsistent with it (like me): After several months I finally checked my little portfolio. I have 3 shares of SPY. They're up 14% :unimpressed:. Obviously not typical and gains fluctuate, but if I'd been buying consistently :snoop:... We KNOW better but we fail to DO better because we can't get out of our own way. I'm gonna be patient though. One target at a time.

investing is an absolute must for any working professional, your money has to work for you. I was lucky and hit a lick with my job during college and was able to save a good amount of money most of the money i reinvested in stocks and crypto. Had i not done that I would have been fukked

Let's try to get this job :francis:
Might have gotten it. Let's see what they get back to me with. With my performance I might have missed the senior role, but if the normal role is going to pay well, it'll be hard to walk away from. And almost by design I feels like my manager is trying to lean on my expertise more and more to express how valuable I am to him. He's a decent dude, I genuinely like him, the company is the problem.

As long as it is appealing to the mainstream, sure :yeshrug:... IG PR, selling tees, barbershop, etc

If you are talking about consulting or management or something that has a bunch of 6 certs ppl, I would guess that it comes across as amateurish because your clientele have probably been pursuing higher education for +6 years and know plenty of people smarter than them, so a company called "Mastermind ____" sounds like a red flag unless the company is full of industry leaders & paying top $$$. Outside of that, it just sounds like an excuse for some corporate hubris

Random question, how has turnover been for yall's companies the last few weeks? I swear it feels like that 'This is fine" meme as people talk about all the workers dipping and/or getting those 'it's been real, here's my personal contact info" emails.

Is this something that is exclusive to my job or is this the new norm out here thanks to an skilled employee shortage and/or people not trying go back to working in an office?
