If you're talking about A+ and Net+, I say do them on your own. Look up Professor Messer on YouTube for both of them. And/or get the book(s) by Michael Meyer.

Found this pickup line in a reddit comedy forum, and I thought our 6fig6cert brehs might appreciate it.

The line from breh: "hey, honey. Are you a 0% APR loan?:jbhmm:

Because I'm having trouble understanding your terms and you aren't showing any interest."

Response from bird: :what: "but.... what's an apr?"

Got a verbal offer today from one of 2 tech companies I interviewed with over the last few weeks. Not excited about it as even though it's a salary bump and stock grant, it ain't that much to get excited over.

Also talked expected salary numbers with the other company, and recruiter said I should expect a formal offer this week. I would accept based on what I was told.

No way my current employer or company #1 would match. Happy and ready for this process to be over

Just got offer from 2nd company. Life changing opportunity.

How do y'all balance your life around these three:

Social - Dating, Clubbing, hanging with the homies, etc
Professional - Furthering your work skills, studying for certs, etc
Personal - Videogames, TV, personal hobbies like video editing, etc

Was gonna type this in the Arcadium but I figured yall probably have a better grasp on the balancing act than them...

I don't have much of a social life. Only a handful of friends in this area and even before the pandemic I wasn't really trying to go out. Spent a lot of time away from the house while I was in college and it was a drain on me, being out is WORK. So I'm content to stay my ass home. 5% of the time at best. The rest is split probably 20% professional 75% personal. I try to do as much technical learning during work hours as I can and really only do it outside of that when I get very curious about something. Occasionally I'll get the itch to try and learn something and I'll put about a week into it. But I admittedly have next to no drive and am extremely lazy, and it comes back to bite me every time. On the flip side, I'm good at what I do, so I can get by without working hard on professional development.

Case in point - FANG knocking on the door again and I still got my dikk in my hand :snoop:. This time I'm going to get this process started and set a hard date, otherwise I'll just waste their and my time dancing around when I'll be ready.

Ebbs and flows depending on what season of my life I’m in. Right now I’m focusing mainly on professional development (through networking and just doing industry readings) and social life (dating and hanging with friends since I’m leaving the area soon).

I find the best way to balance it is by having set goals I’m looking to hit at certain times. This year has been a bit of an anomaly due to the pandemic and the like. I think after summer and after I move to my new city I’ll have a much better idea of how I’ll allocate my time.

I don't understand how to get out of this hell of IT Support. I've been doing this for years, but I can still bomb interviews for level 1 positions.

I can talk about tech. So if the interview isn't "walk through this inane troubleshooting scenario " I'm fine.

I worked at a FANG company from March 2020 to March 2021 when my employer was bought out. IT team was giving 1 year contracts. For a few months I worked with a mentor to try to switch to tech writing (only so I could stay at the company). Made it through the 1 hour and 4 hour interview processes, only to be told that the hiring committee said I didn't have enough experience.

Rushed to get a job after the contract ended. Got another IT role at a fintech company. It sucks. I've been doing bullshyt all day. Prepping a couple of 2017 laptops for new hires. Why can't they buy new shyt?!

I don't know what my next move should be. I'm trying to eat healthier and get sleep. And I've been working on my bad habits to stay organized.

But careerwise I don't what to do. These places always say there's room for growth, but it never happens.

:beli: The last few posts inspired this rant. Don't mean to be whiny, but whatever.
