Over-prepped again. I had an entire cheat sheet of shyt (say that three times fast), ready in case they hit me with something. I channeled the energy of all my failed interviews (and that's a lot of fail) and they didn't ask me not one technical/from the book thing. :russ: I did google the company and how they work with Qlik and saw a few videos with one of the interviewers. Slid that in there to let them know I was doing "research".
What type of gig?

Management is so fukking out of touch with how long it takes to develop features :skip:. Infrastructure change and a new application to mimic the functionality of the old one, and they want that done in the next 2 months and put into production. It's out of my hands though:hubie: not my problem at the end of this month.

During our team meeting today, my boss said that due to the Covid resurgence, the Fall timeline to return to office is looking shaky :banderas:

On the books is an all staff meeting with the big wigs tomorrow so they might make an announcement officially then
(or we all get hit with mass layoffs ) :demonic:
Another all staff meeting tomorrow. Hopefully it is a continuation of a the new 'Groundhog Day-esque' norm... a semi-annual announcement that due to covid, the office will remain closed for 6 more months.

How much do y'all contribute to your 401k? I'm at 8% right now, but want to go to 9 and possibly 10%. My Financial Advisor says it doesn't make much sense to increase my contributions.
6% with 6% match. I was at 12% before I bought my car. I'm due for a raise in March so I'll probably be going back up to 12% before long. I also need to redo my allocation because the assets my company pays into for the match are negative while the stuff I picked on my own is nicely up. But that's a little down the line, still waiting on it to vest.

I do 5% which is the max for the company match ($2 match for every $1 contribution). I don't see the point to do anymore than that at this stage in my career/life. I can use my income for general savings, a Roth IRA and my regular brokerage. If I made more money, I'd max out not just he company contributions but the $19.5K annual 401k limit.

My company offers an ESPP program where you can buy company stock for a nice discount, but the contributions are 1-10% of your pretax income taken out of your after tax pay. This option is actually pretty enticing.

I'm still pissed about not starting my 401k contributions at my previous job earlier. I was a young college grad and wasn't too hip to the game. I thought "na, I want all of my paycheck". Ended forgoing like 9K of free money and about 10% of YoY portfolio growth...

Thanks for the input. My company is 5% as well.

I max plus my company matches 50%. You should max where possible unless you aren't contributing to an IRA already or have unpaid debt where interest rates are above a certain threshold.

Thanks. Already contribute monthly to an IRA. Paid off my student loans and a credit card.

Caught up with one of my former managers over the weekend. Dude launched his own PE fund of sorts going after SMBs in the manufacturing space. Quite a lot of upside with what he's looking to do and essentially our call was a soft recruitment call to gauge my interest/let me know there could be an opportunity on the team.

I worked with him in the past at a start-up when I was in college. Even went with him and the BD team on the company's overseas expansion.

I'm 4 months into my new role so don't think I'll take the offer at the moment but I will keep the door open to see what's open for the future.

Still gotta juggle this MBA timeline and my pivot back to SSA....
